If he shows the athleticism, why not take a second round flyer on the lad?  Most big men take some time to mature into their game, why not send the kid to D League and see what they can make of him?  Besides, he's got one hell of a resume' as a player and it would be nice to have 340lbs of intensity in Green.

He won't be drafted by anyone. If he showed anything in those workouts, invite him to camp.

Unlikely that he would come without some sort of guaranty because of the sure-thing $$$ he can make in the CFL.

Since their season starts earlier than the NFL and ends much earlier (I think around Thanksgiving), maybe he plays the season there and if the Cs and him are still interested in each other, RedClaw him to see what he can do before any commitments are made.

You just don't draft someone who hasn't played basketball in 4 years.  There will be someone more talented at the end of the draft then this kid.  I understand he's big and strong, but if he wants to play basketball, he can go through the D-League without someone using a pick on him.
do it

I thought a team could sign anyone they want.  Why do they have to draft the guy?  Isn't he the same as a free agent?  I don't see why a rule would be needed (if there is such a rule) to protect against teams signing joe schmo....

I mean, is to prevent teams from developing basketball players outside the realm of organized basketball?  Perhaps stealing babies from tall people and sticking them in basketball camps in somewhere Indiana?

I think you misunderstood MBz. His point is, that you shouldn't waste a draft pick on this guy. He could enter the NBA undrafted, but he is most likely so raw, that he needs to spend a considerable amout of time in the D-League before you would consider him even for garbage minutes in the NBA.

we will not draft him... he's a fat white kid.  Maybe they add him to the summer league roster or something at most.

Why did you have to include his skin color? Not even important!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

We'd be better off with Big Gallon.  This would be a waste of a pick.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Give him a shot at a workout. He is big and since he plays defense in football he sure must be mobile. There's nothing to lose.

This is Interesting. if works he can be like  Danny Ainge

Remember  how  Danny Ainge entered NBA.  What I know Danny was a baseball player before he playen in NBA at age 22  Ainge had a terrible first day of practice, "shooting 0-19"

I'm not counting on Jermaine for health.  Remember, it's bone on bone apparently in the knee, plus other ailments....

So let's not forget that we may need more than just a starting center, we also need a second and third string center.  If this guy can remember how to play, he might have a shot as a third stringer....if he makes it as such it would be  a wild story.  If he made it to second string, that would be a wild and crazy story....first string:   :o

he would get more looks in the nba if this was a few years ago when shaq was physically dominating every center in the league, alot of west coast teams would have looked at him as a potenail shaw stopper on the bench, cant see him finding a place in todays nba
