What should we do now ? One thing is waiting to see if Deron Williams signs an extension with the Nets, I'm sure they (Billy King and Avery Johnson) promised him Howard, with them not moving to Brooklyn until the end of next season will he optout of his contract in 2012 and sign with the Celtics now ?

Or is NY the preferred destination ? Either way either him or Chris Paul will be in NY, now that Howard stays with Orlando.

Imagine a backkourt of Rondo-Deron with Ray/Bradley coming off the bench and Pierce/Green as swingmen, We only need to sign Nene Hilario to the Full MLE this offseason.

a 6'1 PG that can't shoot next to a 6'3 Shooting PG. That won't work.
Top that off with getting Nene for the MLE of what is now 5.5 million to one of the top centers in the league, 2nd best in the WC?

Sorry, but that's a scenario that ONLY works on NBA 2k11
Rondo,Ray,Pierce,KG,Nene and a bench of
OjMayo,Jimmer Fredette,Beasley,Dejuan Blair,Jeff Foster
Can't stop, Rondo!

I keep seeing and hearing people say this and really this is not true unless the Knicks pull off a trade for Deron or CP3 before the next trading deadline. The Knicks, if there is no change in the CBA, will have little to nothing to offer a free agent in 2012 unless it is the MLE because between Melo and Amare they are taking up $40 million in cap space. And in Douglas and Balkman and cap holds and they are over $50 million.

CP3 and Deron will not settle for MLE type money while Melo and Amare are at max.

Then if the CBA comes in at a hard cap, NY is still in trouble as $44 million is already guaranteed out. I just don't see anyway CP3 or Deron get to NY without it being through a trade before next years deadline if there is a next year where Chauncey heads out and one of the two ends up back in NY.

I love Deron Williams' game.  I think defensively it would be fine since Williams can guard 2's.  It would be tempting to say that both Williams and Rondo need the ball in their hands to be comfortable, but look at Miami.  I thought the same thing about Wade and Lebron, and they may be going on to win a title.

I'd love to get a player of Williams quality.

If you have a guy like Williams playing the 2, you need a PG who can shoot from the outside.  Rondo can't do that. This would be a disaster offensively.
do it

If only we had a wheelbarrow. That would be something.

I believe there is one over the Albino.

Can't they renounce everybody except Melo/Amar'e and then offer Paul around 15 per if the cap stays the same? The Heat pretty much did that and it's worked to much success.

Actually, the Heat didn't do that IIRC (I may be wrong). I beleive they signed Chris Bosh, then LeBron James, then used their Bird rights to sign Wade. Otherwise, it wouldn't have worked.

This.  Why would the Celts waste resources on a minimal upgrade, if any, to one of their strengths, the point guard position?

I just dont follow the logic.  Its like you are married Kate Beckensale but you want to waste all your money and time getting Jessica Alba to go out with you?

Deron Williams isn't a shooting point-guard. He's a prototypical point guard as pure as they come. It irks me when I see him called that around here because I feel like it's a slight on him to make Rondo seem better. Other than that I agree with the rest of your post.
