Orlando is probably entertaining offers but other teams can offer much more than the C's can (particularly that package you put together -- no offense, but it's not very likely to do more than get a laugh from Orlando's front office).
Clips are a team, as an example, that could put together a much better package in terms of appeal for Orlando AND more appealing to Dwight in that he would be paired with Blake Griffen.
Think of a deal starting with a S&T Jordan, Kaman and Aminu for starters. Also, any picks they throw in are more appealling from the Clips than the C's.
Of course they can get a better package than anything we can offer, but so could Denver with Melo. The key is he will not be willing to extend just anywhere. If we can get CP3 for not much more than Rondo (doubtful but possible I guess), we can then use whatever we have to bring in D12 and feel confident he will extend.
The package isn't as bad as you think. Jeff Green is talented. Avery Bradley looks like he can be an All-NBA defender and above-average scorer, which would make him a complete player (albeit a tweener). The picks will be what they covet most. Although they are not likely to be anything good, they are still picks that they can flip with other players for better ones.
If/when they trade D12, the rebuilding will be a long process. Getting an overpaid fringe All-Star will do them no good, other than overpaying for a good player on a bad team. Getting good players at good salaries and hoping to hit it big in the lottery or swing them in deals for contenders for young talent/picks is what they should do.
They can easily get the Bynum's and Gay's of the NBA, but they will just help them win 30 games instead of 20 and see their top-5 pick turn into a pick in the teens. They still won't make the playoffs.
