What is all this garbage about?

Why is Scottie Pippen even suggesting something like this?

How can you compare Lebron on a team with Dywane Wade and Bosh to MJ?
The guy doesn't even have a ring yet for god sake, let alone 6.

I understand a lot of this is just garbage talk by ESPN to hype up the finals and build expectations/controversy but I can't believe the lengths these networks will go to, to create buzz and ratings.
The Scottie Pippen comments are just astounding. "Jordan was the best scorer of all time but Lebron gets everyone around him involved". Very easy when you have 2 All stars in their prime sitting in your lap to take the pressure off you.

Admittedly he's been very clutch this playoffs but one Eastern Conference playoff run can't begin to draw comparisons against the greatest player ever.

I'm not generally a skeptical guy, but is it possible Pippen would he be getting paid by Nike to say that to get the general public back on his side (to co-incide with them winning a championship?). I mean Lebrons stock has fallen considerably since the decision and some praise from MJ's wingman of all people would be great to get back that 100 million he's lost from the epic PR fail that was switching teams on live TV.

Or has Buster says, is it all jealousy on Socttie's behalf..
Does anyone else agree with Buster that Scottie Pippen is a top 50 player of all time?

Side note: Scottie Pippen is broke. For real.

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

I'm guessing he's always been jealous of MJ's fame and stuff. He's always had that selfish side to him (see: Toni Kukoc). He's also recently made comments about Boozer and Noah being disappointing and basically blaming them for the loss.. Almost sounds like he's trying to drive them out of town. Not sure why he's antagonizing his own team so much

Scottie Pippen is trying to do a double backwards reverse logic on the entire world.

This is how it works.

1 - Notice fans chanting "Scottie Pippen!" at Lebron.

2 - Befriend Lebron hoping he returns the love

3 - Say Lebron is better than Jordan

4 - Hope Lebron wins at least 7 rings

5 - After 7 rings people state Lebron is better than Jordan

6 - Remind people that the player they called "Scottie Pippen" is better than Jordan

7 - Now Scottie Pippen is better than Jordan

Socrates did the same thing.  He got named the wisest man in the world.  Then he said Athens should be run by a philosopher king.  He was the most famous philosopher in town. Logically he should be king.  Poison the youth.  Tell them democracy has problems.

There's a reason this doesn't work.

The reason is that we aren't all idiots.

Hear that Scottie!  We made Socrates drink hemlock and we can do it to you!

I know what Scottie Pippen said but what he probably meant was that Lebron may end up being a better all around player then MJ was. He also said that MJ 'may' have been the best offensive player ever. That is not true as that distinction belongs to Wilt.

I still don't think it's that far fetched that Lebron might end up being a better all around player then MJ either. He does many, many things very well. His all around numbers compare to just about anyones too. Imagine what happens if he wins this year, next and a third ring all before 30. Also, keep in mind the talent that MJ had around him. It's always discounted but if I hada choice between Pippen and Wad I would take Scottie every time, he was that good. I would also take Rodman over Bosh too.

How is this crazy? Jordan's probably the better player but Lebron's definitely in the discussion. For evidence, look at how poorly Cleveland played this year. For further evidence, look at how the Heat have quickly dispatched the two best teams in the East.

Compared directly, Jordan's got the edge in scoring, intangibles, and smarts, but Lebron's more athletic and bigger. He's also probably a better defender. It's a lot tougher to play defense in this era than when handchecks were allowed.

Look at Cleveland?
Sorry but look at Miami.
The guy is playing with TWO elite all stars- he's paired up with the BEST 2 guard in the NBA.
You just stated it's alot harder to defend than when hand checks were allowed..
It was also a hell of a lot harder to score when hand checking was allowed.

TP for the thread...Scottie obviously has some personal issues with MJ.It only takes one person(SP)with valuable basketball credentials to make it an argument,no matter how dumb it sounds. :)

Maybe MJ shouldve hired him to coach the BobCats or something...who knows what his problems are but its obvious there're some on his behalf.I bet MJ has been aware of it for yrs.but ignores it and continue to treat Scottie with respect.

Also greatly overrating his defense
Laughable..because he can defend a smaller version of himself? granted he did a great job on rose, but thats the perfect matchup for him.
His defense has gotten better, but its not all time great by any means., Paul Pierces career regular season and postseason scoring games both came at his expense for example...and ive been hearing reporteres talk abouut how he will defend dirk....really? lol id love to see that.

the funny thing about Pippen making the comparisons he did is ive always thought Lebron is much more Pippen then he is MJ...smh

Theres no way in hell Lebron is on Jordan's level. Theres obviously jealousy from Scottie

But with that said there are easily 5 players in history that are better than Jordan. I do think Jordan has been put on this mythical untouchable status like theres no one in his league.

There are also people who still believe Elvis is alive and that the President bombed the Trade Center Towers. I wouldn't get too worked up about this ... to be honest, Scottie Pippin was a great baller, but he is far from the brightest twinkle-light on the tree, and there's a good reason that he's broke. His agent certainly knew how to get him back in the spotlight again, though, and generating this kind of shock and awe was the whole idea behind the buzz. Let's let this foolishness die a short death, and not give it anymore life than it deserves. :P
