I agree with all of those points but the reason why in '06 the Heat won the championship comes down to two words, Dwayne Wade. The Heat iso'd him and he shot mid range jumpers all day, which no body could stop and when he wasn't doing that, he was shooting like 100 free throws a game. My prediction is that the Heat will win this series because of free throw shooting.
I thought about this very thing with the foul shooting situation. So far thats helped the Heat in some games late...(#5Bulls)for one.Im sure Rick Carlisle is aware of it and making it a point of emphasis in their game planning. If he doesn't it could be the straw that breaks the camel's back.Im still taking the Mavs in 6.tp

Size matters in the NBA, but it's only one factor.  Miami will once again (as wit the CHI and BOs series) have the two best players and they are younger and more athletic than Dallas. Also, Caron Butler is out.  Then there's Stern-bots as already mentioned.

I can't see this series going beyond 5 games.  Gulp hard and admit that this is Miami's year.

Eh, Dirk can easily be the best player out on the floor, and is currently better than Wade anyways

Yeah, its sad Dirk has been overlooked by Lebron and Wade. Well he'll show everyone his greatness when he's playing opposite them

Basically, there are three teams in every basketball game:  the two teams of basketball players and the refs.  The refs will decide the finals.  If they bless Dirk, the Mavs win.  If they bless Lebron, the Heat win.

I think they'll give it to the Heat.  That's pretty obvious.  But who knows?   Maybe the Lords of the NBA want the Heat to wait one more year.  I think  part of it depends on what storyline they think will go over better.

Two of the refs' favorite pets are squaring off.  It's pretty much as simple as that.

Pretty sad state of affairs when people are wondering who the refs will favor.

pretty sad state when people develop preemptive coping mechanisms and shield themselves with cynicism so it doesn't hurt so bad.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Question, would Dirk perform the way he has in this postseason if he had a legit #2 playing along side him?

I dunno if he could.

Kobe said early on in the year , the MAV's were their biggest danger or roadblock , it was the team he feared most .  And they were. Many coachs commented that the MAvs are strong from top to bottom.

The HEAT have 2 of the best 3 players on the court. But the MAV's have the next best 5 players after those three.

I consider Bosh WAY WAY WAY overated , and I'd take any three MAV's big men over him .  Bosh is a sissy and defensive joke.

LBJ gets his 35 and Dirk gets his 35 to cancel each other out.

So can WADE outscore TERRY, BEREA , KIDD and still play some sort of defense. ??? I give the edge to MAV's here.  In a series these three outplay out play WADE.

I think the MAV's 3 point shooting by their big guns and inside "D" on BOSH wins the series.

The way to beat Miami is playem like LA....get a lead and then STEP on their THROAT....never back off.

I agree. But it is extremely, and sadly true. That 2006 finals was a travesty. In game 4, Wade took more free throws than the entire Mavericks team. It was the worst, most boring, most pathetic showing ever described as "basketball" in the history of televised sports.

The reason that happened is that Wade is a natural pitch-man, and the NBA wanted to make a star. Let's face it: Dirk is ugly, Wade is handsome; the Mavericks never had a chance.

Who's in the commercials? If you go and look at the history of the playoffs, usually - not always - but most of the time, it is the team that shoots more free throws that wins.

The thing is, Wade didn't have a good series against the Bulls.

That's the scary thing.

Bosh was the one who actually stepped up his game.

I would have thought Noah and Boozer would at least play Bosh to a standstill.

Didn't happen...

Three Words : KG AIN'T PLAYING!
Well technically it's 5 words, but, point is, Dirk is on a  roll and there is no one who can stop him other than Kevin Garnett! Bosh and Anthony can't stay in front of him, Haslem can play physical but Dirk will just shoot over him, and Lebron cannot guard him for long periods because he will tire out and they need him to score (among other things). The Heat's only advantage would be the James-Wade combo but, unlike Philly, Boston and Chicago, the Mavs have players who can contain if not stop those two from wreaking havoc! Stevenson, Marion, even Terry and Brewer can make life hard for Miami's big TWO! But then again,

I hope I don't..

Dirk maybe not attractive, but as of this season he has got a lot more fans especially females. Women love his personality and dont really care for his looks as much. In 06 it was sad, but the worse for me has to be 2002 WCF game 6 4th quarter. That to me hurt me and made me feel embarrassed for my city of LA. It was bad to the point where even Jay Leno said something was fishy going on. That part of the series had everyone literally everyone possibly non laker fans, but everyone in question about it.

if youve actually seen the history of the dirk/KG matchup not even KG can stop dirk...love the homerism but no
