That must be it right? That's why they lost 4-1 to the Heat like we did? In all seriousness, for people who say the big 3 are too old and we should blow up the team, I don't think so. These guys have at least 1 more run for the title left in them, and could have beaten the Heat if Rondo and JO were fully healthy, and/or if Lebron had missed most of those clutch long jumpers like he used too do. I give credit to the Heat, they are playing very well, but I also give credit to the celtics and what they did despite injuries, and believe they still have another title left in them.

Too old?  No.  Poor offensively?  Yes.

The old thing is way overblown. If they have deteriorated that's one thing but Pierce and Ray had incredible seasons and KG although not a career year was still a dominant defensive presence and at least has got to be a top3 or 3rd offensive option.

Even next year if you could replace a member of the big 3 with someone else at there respective position for 1 year, the list is very short. Replace Pierce with Lebron, Melo, Durant....Ray with Joe Johnson, Dwayne wade, Kobe Bryant....Garnett maybe Dirk and Amare?

The Big 3 are still the cream of the crop at their positions old or not. So saying that they are too old to win is false in my opinion. Maybe they need to get young for the future but that has nothing to do with losing this year or probably next. Sure it would be nice to have 3 HOF's in their prime but that's a rare thing

Just not as good as everyone thought they were.

No offense.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Just not as good as everyone thought they were.

They're one player short.  Miami's good enough defensively to exposure their lack of a second scorer.  They're a lot more dangerous if they can get someone like Jamal Crawford in the offseason.

Very well said, TP. I also agree with the_bird's comments that they need a 2nd scorer, that was their biggest weakness, not age.

TP.

People want to focus on all of these ancillary details about why the Celtics lost.  A healthy Rondo unquestionably would've been enough to given them the handful of point they needed to pull out Games 4 and 5.  And if that had happened, they would've been going back to Boston for Game 6 up 3-2.

And if that's the case, nobody would be talking about how we're too old.  In fact, we might be talking about our matchup with the Dallas Mavericks.

The Bulls could say the same thing, shoulda coulda woulda, but the Celtics truly blew game 4, had it in hand and then got scorched in ot. A hairbreadth of better play and its 2-2 into the next game. This with two starters very injured one playing with a break and the other with a reset dislocation! It doesn't really matter in the end but I feel that we were once again very, very close.

Just like last year, we need to solidify and strengthen what we have in a big way. One more chance for these guys.

Nah, they miss Perk.  :P
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Miami was the better team, just like the C's would have been the better team had they gotten into the series with the Bulls.

Chicago had the top record but they weren't the best team.
