The Houston Rockets have reached a deal for Kevin McHale to become their next head coach, league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Friday morning.

Congrats to Kevin... Hopefully we'll be able to still keep Lawrence but the Warriors are still out there looking for him and I'm sure other teams are (don't know who else has coaching vacancies or will).

Edit:  Gonna miss Kevin in the broadcasting booth.  He was very good in there IMO.

Happy for McHale. Deserves it too.

Hopefully, the Warriors will hire Casey and Frank can still be a part of our coaching staff.

Good for McHale, I wonder if they Rockets were able to only give him the two guaranteed years like they were rumored to be offering initially.

I like it for him but I'm bummed he won't be doing commentary anymore.

I also can't wait to see Houston vs Minnesota.  I think McHale will clothesline Rambis and have Yao pound on Laimbeer a little bit.

I'll miss him on TV too, but it will be fun to see him out there again.  I hope he does well.

Nice to see.  The Rockets are my second favorite team.

I'm excited to see what he has to offer coaching wise. I loved seeing him in the booth and as an analyst. Really got to see his personality which I hadn't seen up to that point and I thought he was a riot

Bad coach. Houston is a tenuous balance, one that he won't be able to maintain.

btw: RIP Yao Ming. It's been a shame.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Great news.

I thought McHale did a very good during his two stints as Minnesota head coach + I think he'll fare well as a head coach in the long term in this league.

His enthusiasm and  man management will be amongst the best in the league.

Yeah, I think the Rockets is going to be a tough job too.

All eyes on Daryl Morey and what he does next because he badly needs to add some top tier talent + defensive talent to that roster.

TP,You raise a good point about seeing his personality closer gives you a better feeling about who he is.Some xplayers have disappointed me once they hit the media and actually lowered my respect level for them.Kev raised my respect for him while watching him these past few seasons on NBATV.Good Luck Kevin!
