Anyone know Caron Butler's condition? I earlier that he might be able to return if the Mavs made a deep run.

Carlisle said it was unlikely but not impossible.

I think someone, maybe it was Carlisle, said Butler had a 10% chance of playing.

I think the 2011 NBA Finals is going to be a big stage and it won't be fair to Dirk if he struggles and his Mavs lose.

Everything has been set up for Dirk to have a big collapse.

He's been the best efficient player in this years playoffs.

Dirk's been the best 4th quarter closer in this year's playoffs.

He led his team to sweep the defending champs.

I just don't see Dirk playing at such an elite level against the Heat.

Usually 2-3 stars will triumph over 1 star, and that's just not fair to Dirk.

Dirk has a ton of pressure on him...same deal as Rose.

Rose was unable to perform well under that pressure.

Can Dirk sustain his elite production and efficiency on this grand stage, against a grand defense?

I just don't see it.

I can see either Lebron or Wade having a bad Finals and the Heat still can win it all.

I don't see both Lebron and Wade having a bad Finals.

And even then, the much maligned Chris Bosh has been dropping 30 point games and 20/10 games.....as a 3rd option.

Our C's would kill for one of our bigs to drop a 30 point game or have a 20/10 game.

If LBJ and D-Wade get all the calls like they did in Game 5 vs CHI it's really hard to beat them.

I give MIA the edge because of HCA.  DAL most likely would need to win a closeout game on the road.

i think you should just forget about caron butler...he won't return and if he did he would be a shadow of himself...he is an absolute non-factor in this series.

Heat will dominate this series and cruise in 4, 5, or possibly 6.  The Heat are a terrible matchup for the Mavs.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I think the Heat are the favorites, but I'm not sure how I feel the series will turn out.

I'm rooting for Dallas to win the series but I know that the NBA and Nike won't let that happen.  Shame.  I would like for Jason Kidd and Dirk Nowitzki to win their first championship.  And I wanted to see  the look on David Stern's face when he would've to give his congratulations to Dallas while standing near Mark Cuban.

Even if Butler returns, it would ruin what the Mavs have going.

Don't try to fix what's broken.

Now on the other hand, if the Mavs are down in the series, maybe adding a Butler into the mix might help.

Can't hurt, if you're already down, right?

I had Dallas as the favourites in this head-to-head matchup a few weeks ago ... but I am wavering a bit on that over the last 48 hours or so.

For now, I am still thinking Dallas in 6 or 7 but it could easily go the other way.

I do expect a long series. Six or seven games. Regardless of which side wins.

I'd have to guess that Dallas will be employ a healthy amount of zone against the Heat and I'll be interested to see how Miami responds. I'm surprised that no other team has tried this during the playoff.

Heat 4-1

Dallas's offense relies on ball movement to score. Otherwise their players are slower than the Heat's. Miami is going to wreck havoc in the passing lanes and take this series in 5.
