Dallas in 5 becuase..

1.no one can gaurd dirk if bosh tries he'll get in foul trouble so that'll most likely be haslem/j anthony & lebron all 6'9 & under it'll belike shooting over a chair for dirk

2.rebounding tyson chandler will have a good series becuase miami has YET! to deal with a center who's atheltic can finish & can play defence

3.dallas' bench guys like peja, barea,& terry will be too much for miami its basically 3 on 9

4 .i think dallas is just the better team very baalanced in every way its thier year

Gotta stick with the Heat. I thought before the playoffs if Miami beat the C's they would win the whole thing. Just a better defensive team and more firepower down the stretch. Throw in HCA and the Heat likely living at the free throw line as well. Hope I'm wrong and Dirk rises up and leads the Mavs to the title. My prediction is Miami Thrice in 6.

I think this series will go 7 games; I don't think Dallas or Miami will crumble in crunch time.  Can't really decide either way, so I'll go with Dallas to spite Miami.  Love the Wade-Nowitzki rematch.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Tough call...my predicition is if Mavs win game 1 in Miami they will in win...in 5 or 6.  If not Miami in 7.

But on paper I think Dallas has the better TEAM.

C: Tyson Chandler (and yes Brendan Haywood) is better than anybody the Heat have by an easy margin. ADV= Dallas
PF: Nobody has been able to stop Dirk these playoffs and Chris Bosh under the bright lights of the finals will?...not likely. The interesting thing will be how effective Bosh will be offensively.  ADV= Dallas
SF: Best player on the planet against what used to be one of the best perimeter defenders on the planet.  Marion still has the size and skills to bother Lebron, but Lebron will get a bit of a break on defense since Matrix is not the offensive weapon he used to be which might make LBJ more potent on offense.  ADV= Miami
SG: DWade arrived by carving up the Mavs in his first finals but Deshawn Stevenson is a pesky defender.  Still this to me is Miami's best matchup.  ADV=Miami
PG: Mavs got very lucky here.  Any other PG they would have faced (Rondo or Rose) would have given Kidd fits.  But Kidd won't have as much of headache guarding his fellow Arizona Alum Bibby. ADV=Mavs

Bench=this is Dallas largest advantage in my opinion and if they don't do well to match or stop Barea and Terry nothing the Heatles do will prevent them from waiting another year or years to be champs.  Brewer taking some time on Bron and Wade might also be something to watch.

Rooting hard for the Mavs in spite of it being Mark Cuban's team

Spoelstra will probably get the 'bright' idea of putting Joel Anthony on Dirk at some point early in the series, and I honestly think that would play right into the Mavs' hands.  Anthony's nose for loose balls won't be quite as effective when he's chasing Dirk around the perimeter, and it would give Dirk yet another matchup where he only has to play on one end of the court.  From Miami's perspective, Bosh needs to stay on Dirk.  Unlike Ibaka and Collison, Bosh will make him play defense, so Dirk won't be able to rest in between possessions.

Dallas will miss Butler in this series.  Marion and Stevenson are both solid defenders, and Brewer can chip in some valuable minutes, but I think they're one good wing defender away from being an excellent foil to the Heat.

I hope I'm wrong, but foul trouble will likely define this series.  Chandler, Haywood, Marion and Stevenson need to stay on the court.

This feels funny to say, but I think Barea could wind up being the X-factor.  I don't see anybody on the Heat bench who is really capable of keeping him out of the paint.  If he's allowed to do whatever he wants, then the Mav bench will go off.

My gut tells me that Miami is just too athletic, but as I mull the matchup over in my head, I'm really starting to think that Dallas has a shot at this.  This isn't the turnover-prone, fourth-quarter-fearing Celtics.  This isn't the one-dimensional Bulls, either.  Dallas moves the ball as well as anybody in the league, and the Heat could very well shut Dirk down in one game and still end up getting shot out of the building by some combination of Terry, Barea, Kidd, Marion, Peja and Chandler.

Still, I'm going to say Miami in 7.

I really sucked at predictions this year.. My NCAA bracket was shattered just into the 1st round, but at least i was right with UConn  winning the title.. in the NBA playoffs, only Dallas was right in my final four but i predicted either boston or one of the texas teams will win it.. well, Dallas is from texas, right? so i guess i'm still good at this.. Dirk is my favorite player remaining and i realy think he and kidd deserve to win so i'm really hoping they'd take care of the heat and get revenge for their 2006 loss.. And like Wyc, Id really like to see Miami lose soooooo BAD!  ;)

I am this close [ ] to praying for Dal. to win, I just WISH Dallas wins... I am wishing with every fiber in me! I thought the Bulls would be tougher and lose in 6... ugh! The Heat have beaten the two best defensive teams besides themselves EASILY... I hope that because Dallas' defense is good and also that their offense is MUCH better than Bos and Chi that this will spell ruin for Mia. Mia only beat both teams b/c of 4th Q collapses in almost each of their wins... hopefully Dirk plays like he has and show what they have been so far, 4th Q is where they buckled down their opponents while scoring! GO DALLAS!!!!!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Really depends how well the Mavs shoot the 3 ball.
If they remain this consistent and shoot as they normally do from outside then they will probably win in 6.

I can see a 4th quarter mauling in 1 or 2 games by Lebron+Wade but I think they've both already exceeded everyones expectations of how well they'd play and how far they'd carry this crappy team- I can't see Lebron having another 3 games shooting as well from the outside (the guy is normally 28% (right?) for gods sake).

Lastly, I can't really see how the Mavs will stop Dirk, and if they throw Joel or Bosh on him, he will take his man away from the paint and Chandler will dominate inside.

Probably Mavs, but the Heat are playing like they're destined.

We have one team that beat the Lakers in 4 games and another team that put away the C's and the Bulls in 5 games each.

Two titans colliding.

Go Dirk!
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I am DYING for the mavs to win, but I think the heat will. One alright sign though. The heat haven't beaten the mavs since the 2006 nba finals, which means the mavs swept them this season, but that was in the beginning of the season (but so did the celtics....almost). i don't think that means much, but you never know.

Only way the Mavs win is if Kidd uses his experience down the stretch of games and does more than Rose did...hopefully he will

Normally I'd be rooting for the Heat right now, because I've liked Wade in the past, and because of the way they are playing defense.  But Wade's intentional takedown of Rondo changed all that.  According to the law of Karma (which are not always enforced, as we know...), there's no way the Heat should win after a dirty move like that.

And Dallas does have some things going for it.  They've played like a team of destiny this year.  Between Dirk and Kidd, they do not get rattled easily.   They seem to run better offense than any of the teams the Heat have beaten (Chicago's offense was mostly Rose, and the Celtics' offense had fallen apart after The Trade).  They are deep and surprisingly talented, with not one but TWO offensive difference makers coming off the bench.

Still, I can't really see Dallas winning.  For one thing, the NBA seems to be determined that This Shall Be The Year of The Heat.  For another, Dallas is like a team that throws mostly fastballs, and its fastball is Dirk Nowitski.  So it's kindof another one star against three stars situation.  That said, Dirk is probably as close to unstoppable as anyone in the NBA is right now.  But part of what makes him unstoppable, especially in the closing minutes of a game, is the ludicrously partial coddling he gets from the officials.    I doubt he'll get that to the same extent against the Heat.

I think the Mavs will take the Heat to six games, but they'll get burned down just like everyone else the Heat have faced.  Karma may have to wait until next year...
