During the championship season, almost every player contributed off the bench. Everyone got minutes. Doc actually had TRUST in his bench and played everyone, even Sam I Am.

This season however was different, Doc didn't play his bench guys as much and relied heavily on the old guys. When you see Baby chucking up shots you kind of throw up a little. Granted, the trade did destroy chemistry and the bench sucked. However, with a full training camp things can be put together.

Basically what I'm saying is Doc needs to learn how to trust his bench and play them more. Wafer never got PT, Bradley, Murphy etc. We need to integrate these guys into our system if we want to win it all.

Is it possible that on past teams, the bench earned that trust while this teams bench did not?

Doc trusted Posey. He went back and forth between Eddie and Sam. I think he went into the playoffs trusting Sam and came out of it trusting neither. The big situation was a little murky as well. Plus he never went with a long rotation.

He trusted PJ as well.

He learned to trust TA last year.

He trusted Daniels before he got hurt.  He trusted Perk and Shaq while they were here.

He even trusted Scali (in a limited role).

I was talking about 07-08. You're right about PJ, forgot about him.

I understood.

Just comparing to this years team.

The bench Doc was suppose to have, he showed trust in.

The bench he ended up with, he didn't.

You can't blame Doc for not trusting the bench since they were consistently squandering leads the starters built up. In fairness they never were able to play themselves into a cohesive unit due to all the injuries. After the trade deadline the only player who understood the system was Delonte, and Doc could ill afford to experiment with the insurgent Bulls and Heat breathing down their neck because that #1 seed was a primary objective.

Rivers hurts his future credibility with his own team with his silly public retrospectives....He's essentially thrown Davis, Krstic, and Green under the bus.

Really can't build trust that way.  Trust has to start from the top.

Rivers could learn a lot from Francona, Julien, and Belichick.

I didn't think he really threw them under the bus.

I think the other thing is that we need smarter basketball players and winners on the bench.  Glen Davis is a dumb basketball player.  Tony Allen may not be the brightest of guys, but that man worked so hard on the floor, he was a competitor, a winner.  Posey was the same way and he was a smart player.  Cassell, the guy always seemed to be on winning teams and he was smart on and off the floor.  PJ Brown was a smart player, he played his role, knew exactly what he needed to do.  Eddie House is another, he obviously has his flaws, but would you rather have Eddie House or Nate Robinson taking a shot at the end of the game?
do it

Doc trusted Davis and West too.

He didn't seem to have high confidence in Green. Green's lack of rebounding and overall inconsistency hurt him.

I thought Krstic deserved more playing time. I absolutely hated the front court duo of Green and Davis.
