The same reason you want to sign him, is the exact same reason Philly wont let him go.

Sign and trade Green?
Do we really think so little of Jeff Green?  I too like Young, but I think Green could be better eventually.

I already think Green is better. Young is a soft 4. Green is similar but has better range

Why is that thinking little of Green if I think you could sign and trade him for Young?

I just think Young might be a better fit, a better PF.  A better rebounder.

Not sure what your confusion is.  I think Green is/will be better but you don't think so, so it means you don't think Green is as good...

I think these are two very similar players.

Neither can shoot well from the outside.

Both can slide between PF and SF.

Differences

Young shoots a higher % and rebounds better.  He plays inside more.

And as for future improvement, Young is 22, Green is 24.  Who says who has more room to improve.

Id rather have the guy that can guard 3's in Green.

I just dont think you get better trading Green for Young. Maybe not worse, but not better.

I rather have the guy the rebounds better and scores in the paint.

Two huge weaknesses this team showed.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
They're basically the same player, IMO. Green is a slightyly better scorer, and Young is a slightly better rebounder (probably better than slightly). However, If a Young for Green deal was on the table I'd definitely take it because Young actually plays with energy and effort.

Is Green a better scorer?

Young has a higher % and scores more per minute.

Still very close.
