Do you see any potential trades for the Celtics?
Chad Ford (1:57 PM)
Yes, I think Danny Ainge will shake things up this summer. I think Rondo and Paul Pierce are safe. Not sure about anyone else on the roster.

What do you see Boston doing at 25? I know most think a 4 or a 5, but I think they need athletic finishers at any position but the 1.
Chad Ford(1:45 PM)
I've got Nikola Vucevic going there right now. He may have helped himself more than anyone at the Combine. Great measurements and played well. But he may go higher than 25 ... hear there's interest in the mid first round.

I don't think Ford is correct on either the trade or Nikola Vucevic but figured I'd share anyway.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Meaning you don't think Rondo and PP are staying, or that you don't think Ainge will make a trade?

I don't think Ainge will trade one of the big 4.

I think Ainge could very well trade 3 out of the 4 if the right deal was placed on his lap.  I think there is limited interest in PP because of the years but the expiring salaries of KG and Ray and teams losing money might entice a few teams to throw the kitchen sink at him.  That being said I can't think of any available stars and the available guys in this range are usually overpaid.

I base this all on Danny's insistence in the past that he would have traded one of Larry, Parish or McHale had the right offer presented itself when they were in their twilight.  He sees that we are close to the top of the contention pyramid but unfortunately we are on the backside sloping down not the front side climbing up.

Maybe he'd trade one of the big 4 but I'd be pretty surprised if he did this summer.

The only way I see this happening is if we stink pretty seriously by midseason next season. So, the chance is minimal.

I think Ford is thinking more theoretically and not really thinking practically.  Theoretically, it sounds good to shake it up.  However, what's really out there and viable?

There's only three incentives to trade:

1) If it makes us better in the long term.

2) If it makes us better next year.

3) If it clear cap space for the future.

Well, with #3, most of our appealing contracts are expiring contracts, so no team is going to be able to help us more than simply letting our own guys expire in 2012.

With 1 and 2, I just don't see what's out there.  What team is going to give up a legit building block for Ray or KG?  And if the player isn't a legit building block, what's the point in trading for him?  The last thing we need to do is lock up Ray and KG's money in role players that will hinder us down the road financially.

I think he's totally right about KG and Ray being available--and there being a market for them.  And I'd be happy with his pick, though I'd be surprised if he's available at 25.
