Is it time for a new defensive scheme? The one that was so successful in the past was designed to stop one dominant player (e.g. Kobe, LeBron, Wade) at a time but now it is apparent that with teams like Miami, it is not as efficient.

On top of this, even Thibs is struggling even though he has better athletes.

I think at this point in time, if Miami wins the championship, every single team will have to adjust their defensive schemes to account for the Heat if they want to have a legitimate chance of winning the championship.

What are your thoughts?

No.  The defense is not a problem, especially when there is someone in the middle that the other team respects.

Our defense did pretty well against Miami, we just couldn't score enough.

  • GOT IT!!!

The same can be said about Chicago. It doesn't help that the Heat play some salty defense themselves.

If you have a defensive scheme that will keep LeBron and Wade in check you should offer your services to Mark Cuban for $10M for the next month.

LOL! I really hope that Dallas wins because it would force the Heat to question themselves (on top of denying them winning in their first year).

The only way the Mavericks will ever win an NBA championship is if (A) Cuban sells the team.  OR (B) Stern resigns.

I don't know.  Even ravaged by The Trade, the 'old and unathletic' Celtics still had a shot at The Heat until Wade purposefully took Rondo out.   The Heat are playing very well, and very tough, but other teams seem to be playing scared against them.

I'd like to see the C's revisit this idea that offensive rebounds are somehow toxic basketball events, which must be avoided at all cost, if that is what their defensive system calls for.

I had thought that Thibs' system placed the priority on getting back on D and good transition D over offensive boards.

But we all know how that worked out in game 7 against the Lakers and game 5 against the Heat.  What was shocking to me was watching guys like Noah and Taj Gibson pull down O-boards in the playoffs this year.  So is it the scheme or is it the personnel?
