  • We may as well put Tyrion in at center.
I know the golden rule, "Once a Celtic, always a Celtic". But
KG and Ray aren't true green. PP has been with this team and
was it's heart for all of his career.

As much as I hate to admit it, KG and Ray are hired guns, they have a decent trade value, and we could possibly get a really good deal with them. I know our chemistry is already amazing right now, but if I had to trade one of the Big 3, It'd be Ray, KG, or both.
I like Marcus Smart

Ray Allen and our 1st round pick this year and throw in the Clips pick next year if we have to the Bulls

Taj Gibson, Corey Brewer and Omar Asik to us.

Bulls get the gunner they need at the 2 and we get depth up front, D at the wing and youth (all 3)and athleticism at the wing and the 4.

With our MLE (if there is one with the new CBA) we get the best sharpshooter out there to try to replace Ray.

Give me a break.  If anyone is true Green, it's Garnett.  If any were to be traded (not saying they should be), the one who is least Green, it seems to me, and who also probably still holds value is Allen.  He could pop threes for any team.

yuck.

Not thrilled with the prospect of moving a starting SG (granted he's old) and 2 1st rounders (with the Clips pick quite possibly high enough to net a starting quality player next year) for 3 guys that are bench players.  Asik may improve to starting quality at some point but he'd be sitting behind JO next year.

You guys are arguing about who is "truer green" to make a determination on who should be traded?

Definitely not businessmen in this thread

Maybe the Bulls do this without one of those 1st rounders, preferably the Clips pick next year. Even if they want them both (or we could switch picks this year or get their pick this year if they insist on the Clips pick)I still do this.

A frontcourt of JO/Asik/Kristic/KG/Gibson is far more impressive and versatile than the frontcourt of this year of
JO/Kristic/BBD/KG.

Aside from the obvious benefit of KG getting a lot more rest with this group, the potential pairings of this group gives us an array of options which will be difficult for other teams to match: JO/KG, Kristic/JO, JO/Gibson, JO/Asik, Asik/Gibson, Asik/KG, KG/Gibson (going small), Asik/Kristic.

Brewer gives us the D at the wing we need. Now our wings are PP, Green, Brewer, Wafer, Dwest + MLE guy.

I know, no Ray, but the strength of the frontcourt and the rest that that will allow for KG makes us stronger. Gibson learns at the hands of the master and is our 4 of the future and Asik is our 5 of the future. Then we get a sharpshooting 2 with the MLE.

KG's salary is so big that a trade involving him really only makes sense if another team wants to dump the salary of a max or near-max contract guy who is signed for several years.  I just don't think there's anyone available fitting that description who is desirable.

The player I would most be willing to trade is Ray Allen because he is easier to trade, due to having the lowest salary of the three.  I would expect to get something equivalent to what Memphis gave up for Shane Battier, probably mildly better than that.

For me, this is an easy answer..  I would trade Kevin Garnet and his $21.2M salary.  Because Paul Pierce will likely retire a Celtic, and Ray Allen wants to be with Boston.  You don't trade away players that WANT to be on your roster.  That is, you try to figure out a way to retain him.  If not...  Then it was a business decision, nothing personal.  This is the right team and the ideal situation for he and his family.

Ray, no question.  He's a defensive liability against Wade and many small-ball line-ups, and his offensive abilities are inelastic: he's only effective playing with the starters.

Still an incredible player and a huge asset for our shaky offense, but he doesn't offer as much as Pierce and KG overall.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Ray easily, he would bring us back something good, guy can still shoot and is better than 75% of sg in nba now
pierce i want to retire a celtic unless its a bourque thing and we trade him to a contender
only way i'd trade kg is if we are getting a top notch center in return, with him as pf you can get away with old centers (oneills), backups (krstic) or limited starter (perk)j
kg just makes us so different defensively

The only way I trade any of the big three is if it gets me Dwight Howard or Kevin Durant.
My reasoning is outlined based on salary/demand:

Ray's Salary = Could've beens : a group of players that could've been great based on talent, athleticism and size but never quite panned out for any number of reasons.  They usually fall into 10 million salaries based on moderate accomplishments as well as the potential for reward if they ever pan out.

Garnett's Salary = Has Beens/Unavailables : there aren't a lot of guys in this salary range that are available and the one's that are usually come with their issues so they won't push us over the top (i.e. Duncan for Garnett).  Also it isn't worth bringing in to Could've beens for Garnett because we need impact.

Pierce's Salary = Young Stars : a lot of the young stars on their first big contract land in the Pierce category but they are usually unavailable and if they are available then something is going on, either they want to go to New York or they need to team up with their friends in order to get anywhere in life.  Since Pierce is still capable of putting up decent numbers there are no real options out there for him.

Rondo is your best bet but there is no guarantee of getting back equal value or any value depending on the market.

what is the plan on getting durant?  I would trade most of the roster to get him. but i don't think the thunder would let him go.
