We need young big men to take over for KG and to even start at center now if possible. I see some foreign players with size on the mock drafts such as:

Enes Kanter
Jonas Valanciunas
Donatas Montiejunas
Jan Vesely
Lucas Noqueria

and the descriptions on the draft sites are intriguing, but I have to admit, I don't know much about them. Are any of them worth trading up to grab, without giving up Rondo or the clippers pick?

I'm leaning towards no, but I guess it depends on what it costs to trade up

Kanter apparently wowed scouts this past week with his record-setting treadmill endurance tests (no big man scored as high as he did).

The question isn't really whether any of these guys are worth trading up for. The issue is that the Celtics have virtually no chips to use to make a draft night trade, except for a member of the Big Four, JO, Bradley, and draft picks (including the Clips' 2012).

Jeremy Tyler. Hopefully he'll fall to us because he has good size and athleticism and he seems to have matured, despite only being 19.
You are no longer black, or brown, or yellow, or red! You are now GREEN, you are light GREEN, or dark GREEN!

Wow, that's a pretty steep price, I guess the answer is no then. Thanks for the info. Interesting info on Kanter. I wonder if he's tough enough to be worth a lottery pick, but it sounds like he has legit skills and athletic ability.

I suppose anything is possible. Perhaps Ainge could package the #25 pick and cash to move up a couple slots.

Minnesota has the #20, and took a big financial loss last season ($20 million, IIRC).

But I don't think there's really any way to move into the top 10-12, which is where most of those bigs seem to be projected.

Danny says that Bradley would go top five this year. If he's to be believed, we should be able to package Bradley for a top 5 pick, right?

I'd say that the fact that someone wowed the scouts based on his treadmill endurance test says a lot about the quality of the draft. I've heard of players wowing scouts before with athleticism or skill, but endurance? Yikes.

And according to his agent, Max Ergul, Kanter -- who is projected as a top-five pick despite the fact that teams haven't seen him play since last year's Nike Hoop Summit in Portland -- convinced NBA executives that he has the stamina to play heavy minutes right away.

He lasted approximately 21 minutes on a brutal treadmill test that includes steep inclines, declines and sprints, putting himself atop the big man class when it comes to being dedicated about his body.

"He went 21-plus minutes on the treadmill test, and only five guys -- plus Enes -- [did that] and four of them were guards," Ergul told SI.com. "[NBA officials] said that was the first time in the draft in modern history that had happened, that no 6-11-plus guys ever finished 21-minutes-plus on the treadmill test ... People don't realize how prepared this kid is, how dedicated he is."

I wasn't saying it wasn't true, just that it's a sad commentary on the quality of the draft.

No 6'11" player has done as well as Kanter in that test. Ever.

I don't see how a historically superlative metric reflects poorly on a draft class?

I have to agree with Lucky on this, how does that reflect negatively on the draft in any way?

I don't agree with him, but I think he's trying to say the fact that this is a big deal means it's a bad draft class - as in, if there were better players, we'd be talking about how great someone 6'11 guy was at ball-handling and shooting turnaround 3-pointers instead of at an endurance test.

That's unreal athletic ability, though.

Enes Kantor is a flat out stud.  He is the only big man worth trading for.

I really like Bismack Biyombo. He is only 6'9" or 6'10" but he has a 7'7" wingspan! He may not be a threat on the offensive side but i see him being a defensive machine: blocking shots, rebounding, etc.....really he would replace Perk (sore subject). BUT idk if we could trade up high enough to get him bc he will prly go between 9-14.
Another interesting big man is Kenneth Faried who really impressed scouts at the combine and he is college basketball's all-time leading rebounder, just sayin.
