I'm not going to talk about my opinion about Perkins as a player and what he brings because that has been flogged to death on this forum and there is obviously a divide about what perk is worth. I don't want to get into that usual debate but discuss something a bit fresher.

What so you guys think of Perkins trashtalking other players in the media? So far he's had a go at gasol, kobe, phil Jackson, and Tyson Chandler this year. And those are only who I can remember.

Is he cool to trashtalk these guys or is he making himself look silly when he can't back this talk up by beating these guys on the court?

I personally think the latter..what about you guys?

Well, I don't know what he has said about those players/coaches. But I do know that Perkins' game does not warrant calling out any players. He is a clean up/garbage player. The most respected trash talkers are the ones who back it up: Pierce, Garnett, Kobe, etc. But those guys never call players out in the media. That is just bush.

I think most of what Perk has said and done has been good or a non-story.

I think the Thunder benefit from his leadership and toughness at times and having someone like Perk who'll speak out either publicly or within the locker room is a good thing.

I would like to see him keep his trap shut for the time being though because he is struggling quite a bit on the court. Hard to hear him talking about the team playing poorly when he is doing such a poor job himself.

Overall though, it's a good thing.

Taken from elsewhere on this forum.

"Kendrick Perkins no longer wears a Celtics uniform, but he still knows how to bash Boston's rivals. Last week, the Thunder center called Lakers coach Phil Jackson "arrogant" and center Pau Gasol "soft." On Sunday, he scrutinized players on the Miami Heat."

"Dwyane falls asleep a lot," Perkins said. "He doesn't like to guard screen-and-rolls, and that's what Ray specializes in. Dwyane doesn't like to get picked. He's a good on-the-ball defender as far as a guy dribbling, but he struggles getting over screens."

‘Me and Tyson never got along. I’m serious,’ said Perkins, whom the Thunder acquired in a trade deadline deal with the Boston Celtics. ‘He don’t like me, I don’t like him and that’s pretty much how it’s been. Everybody always looks at me as kind of like a dirty player if you’re on the opposite team, but he’s just as dirty as anybody else.’

This sort of stuff is what Im talking about. He also seems to be repeating himself a lot aswell, just changing the player.

Has any other role player talked so much trash about star players? ::)

Since KP no longer wears green its Thunder business...if he still wore green i would feel more incline to give an opinion.

Aren't those quotes from back before or at the start of the playoffs?  It seems like he has stopped talking in that way.

hidden amongst his gems are a rough quote he gave when injured and shaq and the big 4 were tearing up the league
"i'm the starter"

love his work ethic but he'd be 3rd string center behind the oneills

I think Perkins understands that part of the reason the Thunder wanted him was to change the team's ethos, and I think he's done that, and the result was almost an appearance in the championship round.

I find that just amazing.  Shaq and JO are on the verge of retirement, yet Perkins would be third string behind them?

Folks just want to bash Perkins.

Doc said Perk would be the starter when he came back on more than one occasion.

People are just saying whatever they need to to make them feel better about our 2nd round exit, no matter how ridiculous it is.

Look, for the Thunder to have any chance of getting back into this series - not much chance at all - the key is that Durant and Westbrook need to get on the same page, somehow.   These two guys' basketball relationship has become dysfunctional at exactly the wrong time.

They lost the game last night because they stopped running an offense as the game got into crunch time, started free-lancing, stopped attacking the basket, started settling for jump shots, etc..   They are a young and very immature team.
