Very strange, out of the blue.

I wonder if this had anything to do with the recent rumor that Cho wanted to suspend Brandon Roy for speaking out to the media about his frustrations with not playing in Game Two of the Blazers-Mavs series.

Very, very strange. And a little sad, too. Blazers dumped Kevin Pritchard a while back, and still haven't quite recovered.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
It has to be related to the Brandon Roy rumor. No other way around it, right?

Poor form by the Blazers, but someone's gonna need to start answering for those injury prone franchise players at some point. New blood isn't a terrible idea imo.

Darryl Moray's days in Houston are now numbered.

Lots of turmoil in the Blazers front office.  In my mind, Kevin Pritchard never should have been given the axe.

Well, they undercut his authority by refusing to allow him to suspend Brandon Roy -- which was an over-reaction from a rookie GM -- so it's no surprise they have decided to part ways with him.

Hard to show confidence or portray authority / leadership when you don't actually have it + the media has told the whole world that you don't have it.

Good decision to fire Cho. Hopefully, they'll do better with their next GM hire.

Besides that, what did he do wrong? We thought he overpaid for Wesley Matthews - but that ended up working out - and he acquired Gerald Wallace for a couple first round picks. Pretty worth while trade.

A GM has to have the freedom + authority to do his job.

You can't have a guy in charge and then undercut him publicly.

The minute that happened, it was over. It was going to end badly, only choice (and best choice left) was to end it quickly and Portland did that.

Probably more likely that Cho wanted to do the opposite of whatever the Blazers end up doing with Oden.

Agreed.  And I think Cho should be happy.  That was a situation destined to fail.  That organization is falling apart.

One season? There's clearly upper management problems in Portland.

With their $$ and desire to win, it's hard to believe they've had such little success
