Danny Granger for Derrick Williams is an interesting trade.

I think Indiana wins that deal. I'd rather have Williams youth and upside of Granger's current ability.

Yeah, I agree.  I think Williams is a little more suited to move up to the PF spot, and they have Paul George, who makes Granger very replacable.

I think it would be a very good deal for the Wolves too however.  They really need a go-to wing (I am not sold on Beasley), and Granger could really fill that role pretty well.  Although, perhaps the best move would be to get a third team involved, to try to spin Granger for either a center to put next to Love, or more of a true SG, allowing them to keep Beasley and Wes Johnson at the 3.

There's no way I'd give up Beasley + Rubio + #2 (Derrick Williams) for Granger.  Beasley and Granger had very similar years last season -- Link -- and Beasley is six years younger.  Yes, he's a headcase, but I don't think that whatever maturity gap there is is worth Rubio and Williams.

Now, throw in Collison and Indiana's #1 (15th), and I might be more willing to consider it.
I think Rubio and the Pick would be much bigger losses asset wise than Beasley. That's a ton to pay for a player like Granger.

I agree.  I think equal value, is pretty much the pick, and then maybe Webster to match salaries.

I linked to this last week: Kahn's response to the Granger to TWolves rumor:

Quote
Thursday's rumor said the team is discussing a trade with Indiana involving Pacers forward Danny Granger. The report by an Ohio writer mentioned the names of Michael Beasley and Ricky Rubio as well as that No. 2 pick.

Wolves boss David Kahn in turn texted an inquiring Indianapolis reporter and asked if the team must include Kevin Love, too.

I love David Kahn.  The guy is such an egomaniac.  I can only imagine what he is going to say if he ever gets fired.

The thing I don't like about Granger for Minnesota is his age.

Granger is already 28 years old and he'll turn 29 before next season ends.

The Wolves are a couple of years away from even making the playoffs. Never mind making some noise when they get there. By the time they are ready to those things, Granger will be firmly on the downward slope of his career and they'll be looking to replace him and quite possibly to begin rebuilding again.

If they were acquiring a younger established star like Rudy Gay, I'd be comfortable with the trade from Minnesota's point of view.

But not for a player of Granger's age / abilities.

Why not just draft Williams?  He's likely to be better than Granger anyways: a more physically dominant player with a comparable skillset.

They should trade Beasley, though.  Destructive offensive player on that team.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

My understanding of the rumor is that it would've involved Danny Granger in exchange for Michael Beasley, Ricky Rubio and the 2011 first round pick.  In my opinion, I like the trade for Minnesota if Darren Collison is included in the trade since it makes little sense for Indiana to have him, AJ Price and (possibly) Rubio at point guard.  Nor does it make much sense for Minnesota to give up on Rubio without acquiring a point guard back.  Currently, they've Luke Ridnour and Jonny Flynn.  My feeling is that they might see their point guards as a weakness or it's a position that they will like to improve.  Also, Indiana has Paul George at small forward.  If they were to select Derrick Williams with Minnesota's first round pick, that would give them three small forwards with the addition of Beasley.  Unless, you trade Beasley again if you're Indiana.

Reportedly, Minnesota intends to keep their 2011 first round pick, but they're open to the possibility of trading the pick.

Taylor said he is excited about the Wolves' recent luck in getting the second pick in the draft. Most mock drafts list Duke point guard Kyrie Irving and Arizona forward Derrick Williams as the top two picks. Taylor said he believes the team will retain the draft choice.

"I think it's most likely we'll keep [the pick] ... but we're open to look at a trade," said Taylor, who will let Kahn make the final decision. "But most likely we'll keep [the player who is drafted]. I just think when you get a pick that high, you would want to keep it for the future."

If the twolves got collison to it would be very close to a fair trade, other than that the pacers stole this one. good point about trading beasley, very likely to happen.

I don't understand this for either team, honestly. That's too much risk for Indiana to give up their best player, even if he is overpaid. I mean Rubio's never going to play for them, they didn't want Beasley when he was being given away, and the #2 pick is historically cursed with bad players. At the same time I think that Minnesota could get more help for their team with that package than what Granger offers them.

Minnesota should be targeting deals with the Lakers, Heat, Clippers, and Knicks for Rubio. He has much more value to those teams because he would actually play there.

For example, maybe some deal with the Lakers and Kings that could get them Tyreke Evans. I can't imagine what it would take to get the Kings to part with him, but I do think he'd be a great fit on the Wolves.

Hmm...Tell that to Kevin Durant.
