My idea for the center spot :
well it hinges on getting a true pf, who can rebound, low post defend and bang
which means kg is our starting center, green is starting sf
we run other teams into the ground ala tommy's 70's celtics and like you post about the hockey lines, we  bring in krstic, pierce and delonte and continue running-dare a second unit to guard pierce
the nba is changing from a center big man dominated league to speed, I can't remember a time when there were so many good pgs in the nba, there aren't any more shaq/duncan bigs...who's dominating in low post, howard, bout it, gasol, dirk
hopefully the heat don't win this year but the speed they have put together seems to be what a lot of teams are doing now, i'm fine with a 6'9" center as long as he boxes out a rebounds

force shaq in the offseason to loose 50 lbs, weight watchers, jenny craig, yoga don't care what it is, he needs to shed some pounds and it'll keep him healthier
jermaine is good enough to start for sure, he's better all around than krstic, perk, shaq etc but he needs to stay healthy, the amount he's getting i'm not resting him

It's been a while since I let myself get too emotionally involved in my posts, (primarily for personal reasons), but this "Green replacing Pierce" stuff has gotten to me, much as I've tried to not let it.

As long as Paul Pierce is a Celtic and our Captain and leader, he will not be coming off the bench ... and there is no reason he should.

He is our clutch guy, our heart, our energy, the core of Ubuntu, and the guy even KG looks for to take over a game, and Jeff Green has done nothing that comes close to qualifying to be The Truth's replacement and a starter on this team.

No way.

Amen.  Folks are way too obsessed with who starts, as if that is somehow the problem.  Pierce will get as many minutes as he can handle at this stage of his career.  There's no reason to bring him off the bench.  The notion of him having an advantage over 2nd stringers on other team is also fools' gold because that will mean a poorer matchup for the C's with who replaces him as a starter.

Shaq ain't losin' 50 lbs.

But here's what I want Danny to do for a big-man prospect this year, get this young Euro stud, whatever it takes along with whatever it takes to assure his coming over here:

He's just what we need.

paul is a far better player than green but that is not why i'd switch them starting etc

jeff gives a low post presence on the block better than anyone we have except shaq, green will run and rondo will find him
pierce would still average the same minutes, maybe a few less but I'd rather he was much more rested for the 4th quarters AND the end of the season
this would force other teams to change their game, few starting sf can keep up with pp, no subs could
i want pierce TO  be able to take over a game in the 4th
anyone notice he really didn't look like he could in the 2nd half of the season?  and this doesn't mean green can but I think by the end of the year we simply looked slower than other teams, in transistion, defensive rotations and moving the ball
we can't win if rondo is running a fast break by himself
kg, ray and pp are going to need a change, more managed minutes etc

I get that this plan is facetious, but it's important to note that there's no way it would work.

Fan have been talking about the lockout like it would benefit the vets where in actually, players that lived through it said it was terrible. Last lockout, in order to squeeze in all of the games, teams played more back to backs and had even less rest between games than the regular season. Players even said they had back to backs in the playoffs. Given that our team can't play consecutive games well, a lockout probably isn't the best.

Good points. If it happens this way and it probably will because of the money up front from the networks who will demand a number of minimum games for that money. This will be dangerous for the older players health and very much accelerate our curtain call from the playoffs without plenty of young depth not currently on board.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Know what I'm scared of? That the 'plan' for center will be a guy named Nenad Krstic, Joel Pryzbilla, Aaron Gray, or Dan Gadzuric or something. Scary.

I think, unfortunately, that those are the only realistic options for next year.

The best one I see that is even remotely feasible (and I mean remotely) and still a possible 'win' is Samuel Dalembert..and that's no help sleeping at night.
