This might not appeal to everyone, but it did to me, and I'm sure that if you'll read it, it will at least make you think.

Thanks for sharing, K ... very touching and poignant, and it puts so much of what's important about life into it's true perspective. It makes me so thankful to have both my parents still a part of my life, and still cognizant of their comings and goings ... we take so much for granted sometimes. (TP)

Kiorrik, Thanks for posting this.  We have all either been in that situation, or will probably be some day.  Heartwrenching.  Still, there is humor and love in all stages of life, if we only look for it.   Hugs.

I've going through something similar with my dad over the last 4+ years.  Last year in both February and July his doctor told me to say what I need to say while I was bedside.  I've twice written his eulogy.  Today he's a lot like the man whom is being written about here.

I'm moved beyond words.  I couldn't write something close to that and keep my emotions intact.

Wow, what a story. I'm also thankful my parents are still around.

A few tears over that story is not a sign of your weakness, but rather a confirmation of your humanity.

thanks, that is true...nevertheless i don't like my family see that i can be emotionally that fragile, but these types of stories hit home...the utter shame it is to have to grow old and lose so much of what you once were...and the adult child having to witness the painful transformation...

My parents are still very much alive, but I moved to the other side of the world, so it's a strange relationship now.

Knowing them, they'll probably be around for another 20 or so ;)

Glad to see this didn't just "hit home" to myself.
