Russell.  He has no peers in any era.

What does "your nba history" mean? Players that you saw play regularly as opposed to those who played before you were old enough to follow the nba?

  Larry Bird.

This is the greatest sports frustration to me.

Wish I was born 2-3 years earlier so I could've actually been able to see Bird's prime.

With the exception of Magic's hookshot in the '87 Finals, my earliest recollections of Bird start around '88 or '89.  So his body was already breaking down on him and he wasn't quite at the MVP level he once had been.

I saw Jordan's prime so give him the nod but certainly wish I was a couple of years older to remember Bird's.

In my time?

I love Bird as a player, but Jordan gets a slight nod here.

Just to appreciate how good he was, though, think about his back and heel injuries, and try and think of another player that, with those limitations, could average 20/10/7. Hint: they don't exist.

It has to be MJ! The guy was just plain Money. You can say what you want about him playing in a somewhat watered down league and I have always maintained that Pippen never gets near enough credit for his game but MJ is the best player I have ever seen and I did see Larry in his prime. Larry and Magic are close number 2's though. I also thought for a few seasons too that Shaq was as good as they come. He didnt have much finesse to his game but it didnt matter, noone could stop him.

Even so, I have to go with my own two eyes here and give Jordan the nod.

He was just so cut-throat and head and shoulders above the other 9 guys on the court and for an extended time too.

Bill Russell
Dominated every level of basketball competition
Let go of his ego and put all team accomplishments ahead of his individual stats

No one else like him

Jordan. He shredded opponents like no other, and did it on both ends of the court.

I wish I could see a couple series worth of games that Russell played in.
