I hope KG isn't retiring.

The team needs a few players to shore up the Core Four, but I'd certainly hope and expect him to come back for one more round.

KG has made $270 million in his career. I seriously doubt he stays because of the money. If he is ready to walk, regardless of his skill level or money left on his contract or money he can still make after his current contract expires, he will walk away.

The loss might bother him because he sees that he can't bring it consistently every night in the playoffs against younger, stronger players and he knows in order to succeed in the playoffs you have to bring it every night. He could be coming to the realization that his time in the spotlight is over and will decide to leave.

If he stays or retires, neither would surprise me.

I don't see why he wouldn't want to make over $300 million. These guys have to make sure they'll be set for the rest of their luxurious life ppl remember?

No chance of it happening unless the whole season is locked out. He is due to $21M next year (doesn't matter how much he's made during his career that's a lot of money) plus he wouldn't let Doc, Ray and Paul down like that by leaving.

No way KG is retiring. He's playing until his legs fall off. Also even if people still want to say his skills have declined a bit, he is still an above average offensive player with a lethal mid range game, he's a fantastic rebounder, and he is a dominant defender.

If he walks away he would be leaving the game with still A LOT of value to give. And of all the NBA players KG seems like he would be the last to walk away when he is still giving a ton.

His latest ANTA blog entry suggests otherwise. Here's part of it:

Jackie MacMullan just said she has a gut feeling KG might walk away. Says he took the Miami loss harder than anyone.

She's on WEEI right now

She also said that it was just her talking and no one told her that KG was retiring.

I really dislike Jackie, always have.  She takes shots at players and starts rumors.

Disagree re: Jackie. She by far is one of the best NBA writers in the country and always has been.

Agreed.  She has more talent and knowledge in her little finger than every current beat writer covering the C's combined, and she also has better connections that just about anyone out there.

Anyways, lets be clear, this is not a rumor.  I didn't hear it myself, but the way it was reported here was that this was just her gut feeling.  If "rumors" start based on this, she is not the one to blame.

yes the man has made 270 million but the fact is that he is about done...he has a couple more years of very big bucks...in my mind that is enough motivation for him to  stick with it...plus he still can play the game at a decent level....

Yeah, I dont think KG is going anywhere.

...love Jackie's articles though.. she's such a smart writer and often has a such good insider knowledge.

What would KG know about this. He's clearly not a "journalist".

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
Or KG has told the franchise he will retire after they trade him if they can find a deal.
All right it's time to break out the trade machine and work out some awesome fictional trades.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Wouldnt surprise me either. And really it would give us some major cap room if his 20 mil comes off the books. he can be a great role guy for a few more years but with the wear and tear that has been put on his body, I could see him hanging it up. He cant be dominant anymore and I think that might effect his mentality more than anything.
