After watching the game last night, and seeing Chandler and Dirk abuse him, something is still very wrong with Perkins.  He's claming he's about 60% right now, but I don't even think he's in that range.  Its gotta be under 50%, at least.

No lateral movement whatsoever from the big guy.  His one on one backdown defense is still solid, but its his help defense and having to play the pick and roll thats causing problems.  Game 1 with the Mavs, and all of the memphis series from what I've seen.  All their getting from him is fouls and broken noses, and backboard breakers from 5 ft and out.

Is his play because of the injuries ?  Or the fact that KG is no longer next to him, or better yet, 4 all stars aren't around him ?

Presti might be praised here and there, but that 8/9 M per contract could be one of the worst moves in his history so far.

Chandler didn't abuse anyone last night...let alone abuse Perkins.

Chandler: 3 points, 8 rebounds, 1-2 FTs, 0 assists, 0 steal.

Perkins: 7 points, 5 rebounds, 1-2 FTs, 2 assists, 1 steal.

And Dirk was torching everyone last night...OKC tried to defend him with several players and none of them were successful. Besides, Dirk was Ibaka's assignment...not Perkins'.

Do you remember watching KG's play last year? When he was coming back from an injury...Did he look the same as this year?

Right now, imo, Danny is the one looking like an idiot...OKC is in the WCF...Celtics are at home...doing whatever they do in their off time.

Seriously, why is this a surprise?

They moved Perkins on Dirk and he got abused. Perkins was a -14 last night against Chandler, Dirk, and the Mavs. Thats abuse right there IMO. In the Memphis series, Randolph and Gasol abused him as well.  So are you saying its because he's injured ?

Danny isn't an idiot, and he's definitely not just sitting out there all alone on a pick and roll a la Perkins.  Why the Thunder keep running pick and rolls for Perk is beyond me.  All the Mavs have to do is double the ball, which they did, and leave Perkins all alone to do nothing.  Its 5 on 4 out there.

I think its fair to say Perk offense regressed significantly since last year. Painful to watch him fumble passes, get the ball stripped from him, take a long time finishing at the rim, etc..But as far as his lateral movement, he is wearing two bulky knee braces on both knees. The braces are restricting his movement. Perk is 11 months removed from tearing both his MCL and PCL on his right knee, and he sprained his left knee in February. Another year before Perk regains his playing form from 2010. His offense however is a lost cause. Perk will never a threat on that end of the court.

You know how many players were used by OKC to defend Dirk? Ibaka, Collison, Harden, Sefolosha, Durant, Perkins and Nazr Mohammad....Dirk torched ALL of them. The entire OKC team was a minus last night except Nick Collison. +/- isn't the best indicator of a player's effort on the court. Barea played very well last night and was still a -2.

I haven't checked but last night might have been Dirk's best performance in a playoff game...he set the playoff record for most consecutive FTs made..and shot 12-15. When a player of his caliber is on song, not even KG would have proved effective.

In case you missed it, Doc too has said that we should have waited until the end of the season to make the trade and how it messed up the team's continuity.

Danny was an over confident fool and put all his eggs in a 39 year old overweight and injured center's basket.

For our team's sake, I hope we are able to sign Green in the offseason and that he plays very well next season. As far as this season is concerned, its over....we were sent fishing last week. It's time for hypothetical trade threads now.

He won't be an offensive threat with a shoot first PG and all the scorers around him.

They moved Perkins on Dirk and he got abused.

As he should.  There aren't many (or really, any) traditional centers in the NBA today who can guard Dirk, especially when he's hot.

Very true. The entire team tried last night.

And against Memphis ?  Whats your excuse for that one ? His entire playoff numbers are straight garbage.

The overconfident fool was Presti dishing out a 8/9 M per contract for a 285 lb player coming off major knee surgery.  Show me anybody that size or more who has come back to play at his peak (07-09) after injuries like that.  Especially @ 25 mins or more per game.

In case you miss it, I'll do the homework for you.  There is NOBODY.

So is it his injuries ?  Or the fact that KG and friends aren't around him anymore ?

Its 5 on 4 on the offensive end and your paying 8/9 M per for that ?

No, gracias.

Yeah, he doesn't look right for sure. I'm pretty sure its more to do with health than anything though, you gotta remember that he's less than a year removed from some pretty major injuries to his knees. The biggest evidence to me is that his blocks and field goal percentage are way wayyyy down. Perk is averaging less than a block a game this year. I expect to see him looking a lot better in a year or so

Chandler and Nowitzki are far superior players. Perkins has no chance to guard either of them. I'm not surprised.

So this supposedly 50-60% Perkins would have made all the difference in the world for the 2010-11 Celtics?  Please....

OKC is in the WCF because of a couple of guys named Kevin (not Kendrick) and Russell.
