Look at their defense against the Heat. Thibs has always been known for his great D, from Houston to the 2008 champs.

I know Thibs was obviously going to get attention from other teams, and I'm happy for him. But do you think our defense seriously regressed without Thibs?

No. In Chicago, thibs has young, athletic, explosive players. The Celts don't have that. Plus, thibs would have made no difference in terms of injuries.

the Bulls are younger and more athletic...ultimately IMO our age, injuries and not having Rondo to run the offense killed us in games 4/5 our guys were beat...

we need a young athletic center and someone to start to pick up the scoring load for the big 3 next year...maybe Rondo develops a consistent jumper or Jeff Green breaks out after a training camp to pick up that load

No.  We just don't have a mobile Center.  Thibs couldn't have changed that

Not with the same players who played. You are who you are. And in the Celtics case, it simply is not good enough. We need more talent.

No.  We don't have the young energy guys that the Bulls have.  There's no way the Bulls would have mangled the Heat today without all of those offensive boards, and there's no way this old, unathletic team gets all of those offensive boards with Thibs or without him.
Never forget the Champs of '08, or the gutsy warriors of '10.

If you swap out Joakim Noah and Taj Gibson for Troy Murphy and Jermaine O'Neal the answer would be affirmative.

I didn't see our defense as the problem.

Also keep in mind the old adage that coaches get more credit than they deserve when a team wins and more blame than they deserve when a team loses.

Does he come together with the Chicago roster?

Obviously Thibs doesn't matter nearly as much as the guys that we had playing the game, but I think he would've played a part.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I suspect we'd have been a better team wth Thibs, but I also wonder if Thibs would EVER have agreed to The Trade.    I don't think we lost to the Heat because we are too old, or too unathletic or because Rondo's not a good shooter, or for any of the other currently sexy reasons being hyped.  I think we lost because 1) Wade intentionally injured our best player, Rondo and 2) the Heat just WANTED it more than we did and 3) The Trade pretty much wrecked our season (the latter two reasons being interrelated).

Unless Thibs became one of the world's finest doctors and also discovered the Fountain of Youth...no.
