Quote
Some green for Crawford?
Jamal Crawford earned $10 million in the final year of his deal with the Hawks and is now a free agent. He should be one of the more attractive players on the market because of his ability to score off the bench. Crawford is 31 and said he wants to play at least five more years. The question is whether he would take a mid-level exception — if that exists under the new collective bargain agreement — from a team such as the Celtics. Crawford clamored for an extension from the frugal Hawks but the club didn’t bite. He is the type of player who would interest the Celtics, and he would likely listen if it meant a chance at competing for a title.

He would be a perfect 6th man for us to play behind Ray but Jamal Crawford is NOT taking the MLE.

That's about the best you can get for MLE and I'd be pretty excited about it. I'd think the Hawks would give him more

As long as it doesn't effect our ability to add a max player in 2012, I guess it would be ok  ???

A bench of

West
Crawford
Green
Free Agent BBD? ( I hope someone more athletic with length)
Kristic

That would be a pretty explosive bench with very good athletic ability at the 1-3 which should translate into being able to play solid Defense on the perimeter within a team defense .

They still need athletic big men with length though and if they give the MLE to Crawford they will have trouble getting any big men with the vet min .

I would rather them offer the MLE to someone who is young with potential to grow with the team after next season

Very inconsistent, and i wouldn't want him to be the only option on the bench.  But if he was a PIECE on a well stacked bench, then i would want him.

He would be a perfect 6th man for us to play behind Ray but Jamal Crawford is NOT taking the MLE.

Jamal IS going to take what a team offers him, and the only team I see offering more than the MLE is the Hawks, maybe.

I want a big with the MLE.

Sorry, I just don't think these gunners work here because of the type of offense we run. These streaky, volume shooters won't work IMO. Crawford wouldn't help us as much as he helps the Hawks.

Nate was bad for us, but a player like Eddie worked because he was a natural shooter who didn't need too many shots to find his groove. If we want to add a wing, find one who can play good defense and knock down open shots.

A bargain Battier is what we need. Then use the full MLE on an athletic big.

Agreed. same reason nate didnt work here but crawford would be a lil better then nate but he wouldnt play enough minutes over here with paul, ray, rondo and west out there just not enough room unless we trade ray for a center then maybe we take on crawford and start sumone like pietris at sg

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
This guy can score but his defense is simply disgusting.
He has some of the WORST shot selection in the league too.
Waaayyyyy overrated, shoot first, pass second guy who doesn't play any defense.
I'd rather Green.

Nate is a great example because the first time he was faced with the opportunity of playing for a team that had the chance to go far he improved. Nate played better defense and took better shots with the Celtics than he did with any other team.

The problem was that he didn't hit shots in his second year with us. With no backup pg he needed to be a facilitator which lowered the number of good shots he took. Look what happened to his numbers when he played with the starters.

Jamal Crawford could easily make the same transition to a player that is willing to play team ball to compete deep in the playoffs. I could easily see him playing big minutes, improving his defense and taking better shots for us. I think with Rondo or Delonte manning the point with him in the game Crawford will be set up better than he has been on any other team.

Crawford isn't nearly as bad a shooter as he is made out to be.  He is a career 35% shooter from 3PT land and 84.6% from the line, which is far from terrible.  His TS% is 52.6% on his career (and the last three seasons have all been 54.5% or higher).

Couldn't work out the answer?
Read harder.

Jamal Crawford is GARBAGE!
No way a defensive minded team brings this clown in.

I would like Jason Richardson in an ideal world, coming off the bench as a power backup to Ray (basically splitting minutes).

Also, Kwame Brown (cheaper version of Dalembert for youth, D, size, rebounding).

Given the tighter caps of the future, JRich may be open to MLE money, while K. Brown may be open to staying at the minimum or LLE type money.
