1.management-mismanagement of the roster that lead to a weak bench at playoff time.To many roster spots that gave you nothing.Regardless of the reason(s),its management's job to have the bench filled with the right players by playoff time.
2.coach-Doc failure to make adjustments in key situations during the playoffs. Also fail to trust in players who potentially could have helped the team in crucial periods.
3.Officials-As much as people try to make the officials have little effect on the outcome of games they had to much effect. When one team 2 key players shoot 100 free throws compared to a complete teams 105 in a series there is something wrong. When Celtics and Heat taking free throws almost equal in the two games in Boston but doubles over the road there is something to look into.Did things change that drastically from city to city in how the teams played each other to cause a doubling in fouls called,i don't think so.
4.Players-From game 1-5 to many instances where veteran players made rookie-like mistakes(brain farts)in key situations.

I don't blame anybody, I credit the Heat - they were the better team throughout the series and deserved to win.  Our guys played their hearts out but couldn't consistently keep it up for 48 minutes.  So it goes.

If more things broke our way, maybe things shake out differently, but no one can say for sure.

I still believe we would have won this round if not for Rondo's injury.

Shaq's age/injury also, not sure if we could have won with an early season performing Shaq and no Rondo but I would have liked our chances.

There really isnt much to blame. Miami outplayed us, thats pretty much all there is to it. Wade and James hit every big shot they needed to. It didnt matter how great our defense was they still found ways to score.

We lost in 5 games , which were a lot closer than that suggests.
No shame in losing to the Heat when Wade and LBJ are making their shots ... and JO, Shaq, Rondo all suffering injuries , just bad luck. If one of the Heat big 2 suffered an injury guess the series may of been different.

Would of been great to see Game 3 KG for the series though

  • Rondo = Good
Father time robbing the Big 3 of the ability to play at 100% for 35-40 minutes a game.

Bad luck for causing us to lose Shaq and Marquis, and keeping JO and Delonte out for most of the season, and severely injuring Rondo in the middle of the second round (thus no HCA, weak bench, no inside game, and our key player is playing at 40%).

Corey Brewer!

Because he didn't sign with the C's the trade was made and because the trade was made, we had no center when Shaq went down.

Secondly I blame Doc for his substitution patterns.  I'm still burned up about this because he killed us in game 7 last year too. >:(

1) Lack of size down low.  In the regular season, when the Celtics had beef, they took advantage of Miami's weakness.  In the playoffs, they had to go small.

2) Rondo's injury

3)  Ineffectiveness of the bench.

agreed. I'd also add JOs and Shaq's recurring injuries to #2.

Injuries, mostly, including mid-season injuries.

Injuries dictated moving Perk.  Injuries cost us on the court.

Give me a healthy Marquis, Perk, Shaq, JO, Rondo, BBD, and Delonte, and I think we beat Miami in 6, at most (and that's assuming they had a healthy Haslem).  Unfortunately, injuries are part of the game, and we gambled on injury-prone players.  It just didn't work out.

I'd switch in "functional" for "healthy" and I'd still say we beat the Heat.

do you really think injuries dictated the Perk deal?

I'd say a mis-assessment of injuries made the Perk deal seem appealing. that is, Shaq from the beginning of the season made Perk seem not as important to our winning.

unfortunately, Shaq from the beginning of the season never reappeared.
