Nope.  The guy averaged 25, 5 and 5 this year for a team that won 57 games.  They need to try to trade Odom for a better point guard.  Derek Fisher is useless.  He play about 28 minutes a game this year averaging 7 pts and 3 assists.  He might be a good back up PG, but he's no good as a starter anymore.

I agree. If the Lakers want to get as much as they can out of Bryant, they need to get a legitimate ball handler to pair alongside him to take the pressure off him having to run the club by himself.

Who knows if Kobe would be able to make the transition to more of an off-the-ball scorer a la our very own Paul Pierce.  But, getting a real point guard would be a priority for me if I were running the Lakers.

In terms of being an MVP caliber player? Yeah, he is. And this isn't something new, something that happened recently, heck, it happened long before this season even started. It happened the year before.

In terms of being a very valuable basketball player? Heck no. Kobe is still the second best shooting guard in the league. He is a major asset to any team.

I'd say this is right.  Kobe still brings an All-NBA caliber game most nights, he's just not at the same caliber that he was.  He slipped behind Wade probably starting last year, but he's still among the best players in the league.

agree on fisher, he is a good backup at this point in his career (guy I'd love to have)
lakers need a to move bynum or gasol for some good pieces
kobe has to do what pierce did, change his game for the better of the TEAM, don't huck up 20-30 shots a game
trouble for the lakers is that kobes GIANT ego doesn't seem to trust his coach or teammates
he is still a few years away from showing slowing down syndrome in defense but he does need to become not the focal point of everything next year or year after...again ego

Kobe's not done. As long as he still has that patented jumper of his, he'll be effective. He doesn't drive the lane nearly as much as he used to, so that will prolong his career a bit. And as mentioned before, if LA ever gets a pg who can handle a bit more of the scoring load, that will open things up more as well.
