There's no doubt in my mind that this is the reason we lost.

From the championship year and last year's run to the finals, how do you only bring back 5/15 guys (especially when one of them sucks)?

No chemistry whatsoever.  I mean when you're on the brink of elimination, and you're only down one possession, and Jeff Green fumbles the pass out of bounds, what can you really say?
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I think the thing to say is "thankyou Danny".

James Posey isn't walking though that door. Luckily. If he did he'd be the crappy 2011 version, not the guy that was on the team in 2008.

  • Another undersized Celtic...
We had plenty of opportunities to pull that game out--Jeff Green's inability to reel in a bad cross court pass is not the reason we lost. Ubuntu doesn't heal injuries, make people younger or cause the 2 best players in the league to start sucking.

This. Ubuntu had nothing to do with those. Anyone who said lack of ubuntu is what caused our loss wasn't watching. What i saw was an old, tired and injured team running out of gas during the latter parts of the game.

That was a bad pass by the Captain who should not have thrown that pass.

Ubuntu was not abandoned, just not executed. Just like the offense was.

Yeah, chemistry and all that are great, but it doesn't make up for health or age.

Ubuntu didn't make Ray Allen older, so that he got blocked every time he went on a breakaway. Ubuntu didn't dislocate Rondo's arm so that he would spend half the series playing one armed. Ubuntu didn't make KG so old that he could only post up people once every other game.

Missed passes may stick in people's minds, but the difference is that the heat was far more athletic than the celtics, younger than the celtics, and had 2 guys who could score 30 a night if needed. How many breakaways did the celtics have where the heat caught up and blocked an easy lay up? How many breakaways did the heat have where they would finish the play before anyone from the celtics even made it to the 3 point line?

If anything, it was our chemistry and defensive cohesiveness that allowed the celtics to even be in most games, because physically, we were thoroughly outclassed.

TP sir,
hit the nail on the head.

Ubuntu to some people is like a time machine..

Maybe the Heat's unbuntu increased over the course of the season?

Factor in their youth and athleticism....was too powerful for our injured roster to overcome.

I'm loving all these "here's my theory about why we lost" threads.

It's like reading about UFO sightings.

Danny is the one that ignored Ubuntu ......... and it started with the dumb decision not to give James Posey an extra year on his contract - he has spent the last three years making one move after another to replace the guy - of course, the latest attempt being the most disastorous (Green).

Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

So you'd take Posey as he is right now over Green as he is right now?

They didn't abandon Ubuntu ... it's stil their motto and rallying cry, and still at the end of their chant before games. They just lost a lot of players and had to re-establish it with new players and work them into the system. Unfortunately, it takes longer with some people than with others, because it hinges on individual personalities, and whether or not they're willing to buy into it.
