Can we stop trying to find a way to trade Rondo.  Am I the only person that actually thinks he's worth keeping and building the team around.

Are you actually serious about trading Rondo for Chris Paul, how many times has CP injured his ankle and been out for weeks/months at a time.  Rondo just showed he has the heart of a champion and when other players would have quit he chose to get back in the game no questions asked.  These players get paid millions of dollars and with the slightest injury they will sit the bench and collect their money.

So he doesn't have the best jump shot and is p--- poor at making free throws.  Those are skills that can be worked on and are actually being improved upon.  Very rare do you see a player with the court vision he possesses and you all want to trade him away like hes garbage!

Don't worry, you aren't the only one who feels this way. Just remember that he's our most tradeable asset that will net us the most in terms of value for return, so it's definitely going to come up.

Thank you. One of the first people on here I've seen with some common sense. Cp3 isn't going to be traded to Boston, no chance, so those posts should stop. Not to mention, Rondo is right up there with him. Outside of shooting, there's not anything that Paul does better than Rondo (though that goes for pretty much every point guard in the NBA). I'm fairly new here, but Rondo has to be one of the most underrated players in the NBA on this forum. People don't realize he's a top 2-3 point guard and arguably (and probably) a top 10 player in the NBA. Not to mention we have him signed to a great contract. He's not going anywhere nor should he.

I'll give Rondo the "best 'pure' point guard" title, as in "best ball distributor", but that's about it. He's in my top 5 of all PG's, in my top 25 or top 30 of best players in the league.

He's very tradable, but I'd also very, very much hate to see him go. Would love the fella to be a life-long Celtic... though it's hard to imagine an "older" Rondo, since he doesn't have much of a shot and relies so much on his speed.

Not to mention his kamikaze-like endeavors into the paint, which makes him rather susceptible to harm, injuries.

I agree that he is our most trade able asset that is a good point.  But he's worth way more than what his contract is for now.

Not to mention more than half the people that are "proposing" these trades are probably the same people that are crucifying DA for the perk trade and most likely will be mad if Rondo is traded.

Rondo has a ton of heart, is a great distributor, has great instincts, and has very good court vision.

That said, he's not as good as Chris Paul.  Paul would instantly elevate our championship chances next year.  He may be the one semi-realistic player that we can acquire that would extend our current window.  (Other guys, including of course Howard, would, but I don't think we can get them, especially not for next season.)

There are very few players I'd trade Rondo for, but Chris Paul is clearly one of them.

i would say the most tradeable asset is ray.  he's got that big expiring deal.

i look for some major moves in the off season.  i expect new starters at pg, sg, sf, and c.

it's going to be a fun off season!

Agreed.

One thing - its undeniable that a jumper would open up Rondo's game a lot, but I think that even more important is for him to become a decent free throw shooter. If he can become, at the very least, respectable from the free throw line (think 75% or so), it would open up his game even more than a jump shot. We've already seen that he can get to the rim/line almost at will, and we'd see a lot more of that (not to mention confidence) if his free throw shooting improved.

Free throw shooting is arguably easier to improve than a jump shot as well. Hopefully we'll see Rondo work on his game this summer. Either way I would hate to see Rondo traded.

Rondo truly MUST work on his shooting this summer, and work hard.   I don't think he'll ever shoot like Ray Allen, nor should he.  I think he'll always have eccentric mechanics.  But he's got to shoot shoot shoot until he becomes a better shooter.

On free throws, I'd like to see him try the Rick Barry diaper shot.

It's hard to say that you wouldn't trade Rondo for Rose or CP3. They are just better than him and would help this team more than he does. And it's hard to argue he's someone you really want to build around. Without anyone to pass to, do you really want him to be your number 1 scoring option down the floor? Without the Big 3, you lose the most effect part of his game, passing.

Become Legendary.

Agreed. Giving Rondo away would be silly.

But there's zero question in my mind that CP3 is an upgrade at the position, because of the badly needed offensive capability at the position as the Big 3 age.

Unquestionably, I am interested in any deal with New Orleans that lands Chris Paul.

I totally agree. The Celtics are a family, and I find it a bit upsetting to hear people wishing part of our core away for someone with a better shooting percentage. Rondo has a lot to offer despite what he lacks. He is an incredible passer, is great at stealing the ball, gets more rebounds than almost any other point guard (especially of his size), is a great all around play maker, and most importantly he has SO much heart. I am in shock that people would even THINK of trading this guy away after game 3...

So, you think only the PF position will have the same starter as last season? Really? LOL!

Pss..  Pretty [dang] disfunctional family with how quickly people turned on Perk...   >:(

People are going to talk about trading Rondo and Ray and maybe KG and maybe even Pierce because...  what else are we going to talk about?  The draft and...  the draft?

If you want to add an impact player, you've got to give up someone good as well.  Rondo's (by far) the most tradeable asset we have.

Hell, at one time Big Al was one of our two best players.  Beloved guy, I still love 'im.  Franchise cornerstone.  Best post player we'd had in Boston since McHale.  But, trading him worked out OK!

Or a miserable one if it's anything as dumb or dumber than the big trade last year.
