Which was what then?

I'd much prefer a 6'8 Grant Hill playing 'out of position ' defending the greatest sg's ever - even though as KC rightly points out this could vary based on match ups w/ Pippen - then a 6'7 Reggie Miller playing 'in position'

For limited minutes, perhaps I can buy that.  But if the plan is to do this for the better part of the game, I remain very skeptical b/c of the quality of the SGs he'd be going up against.

It's a good thing Scottie Pippen will be guarding them then.

Wing: Scottie Pippen
Wing: Grant Hill
PG: Jason Kidd

Bench: Reggie Miller, Wes Unseld

Moncrief would've been a perfect complement there.  Plug him at SG with Pippen at SF?  From a defensive standpoint, that team would be pretty nasty.

That's some nice passing.

Three guys in the starting lineup that can be the Point guard (or forward)

Two triple double machines.

Not a lot of range on those jump shooters (three pointers) or scoring efficiency (TS%) from those players ... with the exception of Reggie Miller.

When the Bulls went up against the best SGs of his era, was it Pippen guarding them or Michael Jordan. I seem to remember Pippen guarding the best of the best SFs and the occasional SG when MJ was on the bench, but I don't remember him guarding the best of the best SGs, that was MJ.

Well that's because MJ was also one of the best defenders ever. THat's not because Scottie couldn't do it.

Is it my fault I had the seventh pick and couldn't draft the best defensive SG of all time? Is that a knock on Scottie that he played alongside the best defender at his position and it was just easier to have them cover their natural positions?

You can put Pippen & Hill in whatever order you'd like, aint stopping Glen Rice from getting buckets.

Okay here's the thing about these drafts that I just will never get or understand.

In many a draft I have participated in owners have done exactly what KC is doing and that is drafting a player that his whole career he has played one position and suddenly turning around and saying, he could play this other position or guard this other position.

I don't buy it. If that player could do it he would have been. There's a reason he played his position and a reason he didn't play another.

Some players have played more than one position in their careers. Billy Cunningham, Willis Reed, Paul Pierce to name a few. But others have only ever played one position and I will never understand in these drafts why people think they can play a different position as a starter playing big minutes in these drafts.

So we will agree to disagree whether Pippen and Grant can be a full time SG. They never did it in their careers but if you want to say they can, that's cool. I will just not be a believer in that.

Looking at Scottie's 94-95 campaign, he was 34% from deep and Jason Kidd's 98-99 he shot 36%. These were not flukes but rather the first years those shots became consistant. Also, what this team lacks in perimeter shooting, it more than makes up for in transition offense and ball movement. Think of us as the all-time version of the 2011-2012 Memphis Grizzlies.

See, I think wing positions are fluid and are entirely determined by the personel you have and the defense you need to play. For example, if the Bulls had gotten Lebron this past summer, are you telling me they never would have played Deng and Bron together because neither of them has ever played 2 guard? That they would really keep their two best perimeter players off the floor together? I can't imagine that, especially not with Thibs coaching.
