I don't think Rice will have any issue hitting a lot of threes at a very good percentage in this league.  The question is does he contribute enough elsewhere?

I got him to hit 3's at a high percentage and that's it.

So as of right now, I'd say that the answer is no, he doesn't contribute enough. I think by the time I'm done compiling the roster that answer changes.

EDIT: That seems like a terrible answer, but it makes sense to me? Essentially, there's two players I see me getting in the next 2 rounds that makes Rice a great fit.
In this sort of draft why in the world would you draft a one dimensional player like him if his role is just to jack it from deep?

I can think of three or four plus defenders who can hit threes at a similar clip. They didn't have the same overall offensive game, but you just declared that you don't need him for anything more.

I think you're absolutely incorrect about finding someone who can hit at a similar clip. 47% on 5.6 shots attempts per game. The attempts per game is very important.

I also believe that this draft lends itself to the kind of logic that lets me take an elite 3 point shooter to simply shoot 3 pointers.

You've accurately pointed out that there's 3-4 other talented defensive small forwards still available to pick. There's 12 teams in this league, many of which already have a player that fits that role. Why wouldn't I grab a player with an elite skill set (in this case elite 3 point shooting) and then assume I could grab one of those other defensive small forwards later on?
47% on the short three point line. Once you normalize for that its no longer as elite as you say. Especially when you consider 5.7 attempts came in 40 minutes per game with a usage rate of 27. Are you going to play Rice that many minutes, with that large of an offensive role? Are you going to be able to play with that short of a three point line?

And by grabbing him now you missed a chance to add better all-around talent. Plus those other SFs we both alluded too will get more playing time than Rice will. If you want to put your best team out there Rice won't get 5.7 shot attempts or 40 minutes a game.

PG-John Stockton
SG-Kobe Bryant
SF-Chris Mullin
PF-Karl Malone
C-Dikembe Mutombo

6th man-Ray Allen

I think that is a very well balanced great on offense, and Good defending team!

I point out the shot attempts just to demonstrate how good he was that season from distance. Shortened 3 point line or not, he still led the league in it, here's your top 5 that season.

Quote
1.   Glen Rice-CHH   .470
2.   (player not drafted)   .464
3.   Kevin Johnson-PHO   .441
4.   Joe Dumars*-DET   .432
5.   Mitch Richmond-SAC   .428

Quite a distance between them.

I might've missed out on a better player but the difference between the first best defensive sf and the fourth was pretty minimal to me. I don't see the point in choosing one of them just to do so.

Meanwhile, I thought the difference between Rice and the next best shooter was much greater.

I'm just happy to be talking about Glen Rice this much to be honest.

Nick, next year when you're trying to get owners you can use that as a quote.

I like this team a lot, though I wasn't crazy about selecting LJ. Though I know there's other people drafting who are yuge gran ma ma fans.

In an attempt to fix a wrong (that's right we're talking about you Pitino), we would like this guy to walk through that door

In 05-06 he was a member of the NBA All Defensive team and finished 5th in MVP voting with these numbers: 18.5 ppg, 8.6 apg, 3.1rpg, 0.9 spg, .894 ft%, .433 3pt% and a ts% of .602. His career % are fg%-.417, ft%-.894, ts%-.581 and 3pt%-.389! He has a ring and a finals MVP and now he's back for some more!!

With pick 8.2 the Celtics are ecstatic to be able to (re)select:

Chauncey Billups

I'm so glad only 1 of these guys is coming back…

This is one of the strongest teams in the draft. As opposed to what my own approach would be (90's and 00's guys I knew would have an athletic advantage), Nick has selected all-time athletes and guys with modern NBA size and skill sets to anchor his team, and I think he did well. Each round he's selected for a need and filled it, creating a versatile, symmetrical two-way team.

Best pick: tie, Magic Johnson, Dennis Johnson
Worst Pick: Kevin Durant

Definitely one of the better teams in this exercise.

Unlike, IP though, I think Durant fits in pretty well with this team and liked the pick a lot.

The biggest 'missed pick' that I've seen so far is Billups not ending up on the Bryant/Mullins/Malone squad. Chauncey Billups is like the mold that was used to make poor copies of 'Kobe's ideal point guard' that Kobe's played next to in LA. Great pick here.
