  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
O.J. Mayo

Memphis almost gave him away for dirt to the pacers so he could probably be had in a S&&T for Green. I'd rather have him over Smith.

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
He's an immediate off the bench scorer, but same problem with a lot of guys like that, he doesn't play a lot of defense.

I'm sure he could improve that being our main focal point and around our veterans. Also it's not like JR is an awful defender he is decent.

I'd love him on our team he would fire up the Garden like crazy.

Orlando, Dallas, Chicago ... all good destinations for JR Smith.

A little weary about JR joining a contender though. Although he would be a major asset (for an MLE player) for those clubs and help take them up another notch. I would be worried about them keeping him in that sixth man role or relegating him to fourth option status though - more of a 14-15ppg threat than the 16-18ppg threat he can be.

I'd almost prefer him to land on a lesser team.

I'd love to see him get more freedom. More minutes. More shot attempts. Someone who will put up with his mistakes because they desperately need that scoring punch. Give him a lengthily stretch of serious playing time to help round out some (some!!) of the rough edges in his game.

Somewhere like Philadelphia, that could be great. Replace Jodie Meeks in that starting lineup and pump in another 16-18ppg.

In that case, how about Phoenix? I can't see them keeping Carter.

Yeah, Phoenix would be a good home for him too.

I really hoping this works out for JR Smith. I've spent the last three years hoping he'd leave Denver. I think they did a very bad job of developing him and have held his career back.

danny takes risks on players like JR

i dont think other teams would gamble on him like the celtics

i cant see him on orlando, didnt they just trade for richardson, and gilberts horrible contract is there for a couple more years

chicago is the only team i can see, but i dont think hes a paxson type player

I think danny will covete him and make him our 6th man and eventualyl start for ray allen in a couple years and a core player

I like JR Smith as a starting two guard alongside Rondo for the next 5 years for MLE type money.

I don't think he'll make much of an impact as an sixth man next season though. Hence, I am kinda lukewarm on the prospect of adding JR Smith to the C's.

Plus, I am still not sure I want to sign anyone to a contract that lasts beyond a year because it'll hurt the C's 2012 cap space.

-----------------------------------------

Leandro Barbosa, on the other hand, who was mentioned on another thread ... I'd love to add him as a go-to scorer off the bench.

One year left on his contract. He'd be an excellent backup PG / combo guard. Give the team a completely different look when Rondo is off the court + gives the team great speed and scoring as a two guard alongside Rondo.

I think he could have a larger impact than JR Smith next season as a key reserve.

Doesn't he have the Yankees symbol tattooed on his throat? Yeah...
You are no longer black, or brown, or yellow, or red! You are now GREEN, you are light GREEN, or dark GREEN!

if jr smith wants to play in boston for the mle then i'm all for it. the guy can absolutely light it up when he gets hot. that being said, he is kind of a nutjob but i dont think the denver lockeroom is very strong as far as keeping players in line. i figure he would step in line here with the big 3.

the problem with signing jr smith though is it would have to be with the mle and would make signing a center a lot harder. that being said, finding a FA center (chandler/nene/etc) for the mle is gonna be nea impossible anyways so if they could get any impact player with it i'm okay with it i guess.

but i bench with d west/smith/green would be kinda sick...

i think he fits the bill of what the celtics and ainge/doc want too

young , super athletic and a very good scorer with a chance to improve

yea hes a nutjob but the celtics take these nutcases and rehab them..lol

the bench was a letdown this year and going into next season it is important to have a great bench and keep the big 3s minutes down during the regular season

Barbosa would also be a good complement to West as far as bench guards go. Would need a 3rd emergency point guard on the roster.

Assuming Barbosa chooses to exercise his option for next year, a straight up trade for JO would work numbers-wise. Would allow Toronto to clear some additional cap space.

Boston could probably also take back another small contract, like Joey Dorsey's or Solomon Alabi's, to clear even more off the Raptors' books.

I wouldn't bring back Delonte West if they landed Barbosa.

Barbosa = backup PG

He is too limited defensively and on the backboards to play all of his minutes as a SG. Needs to be split between the PG spot and SG spot to take full advantage of his skill-set.

I have little interest in Barbosa if he isn't the backup PG.

He would be. West would back up Allen at SG, and serve as a backup PG when distributing, not scoring, were needed.
