That's the only way we will be able to go deep in the playoffs. Deandre Jordan is the best option as many people have said and he will be expensive. But if next year is the big 3's last year, don't you pull out all the stops? I'm not saying give him a franchise crippling contact but definitely overpay a little. He's not simply expensive. He's unattainable -- no money or pieces to offer. If Jermaine retired we could trade his contract along with cash (Sterling loves cash) and their firs that we have for him.No one was unattainable, it is just simply very very unlikely. Why would they give their starting center for spare parts? To clear space for Kaman, who's shown a decided inability to play alongside Blake Griffin? You're much more likely to be able to pry out Kaman for a combination of Glen Davis and Jermaine O'Neal's contract.

Also note that we have slightly over $3 million in trade exceptions from the Daniels and Erden/Harangody trades, so we can take a roleplayer on a long, reasonable contract... not that someone is looking to get rid of these, in principle.

The Daniels TE is of a decent size ($2.35 mil), though. In another thread, I lobbied for using it to shoehorn into a rekindled Indiana-Memphis trade (like the one that fell through at the deadline) to acquire Josh McRoberts in a sign and trade. I think he'd be a great replacement for Davis.

Of course, that means we have to resign Krstic and play Green at PF a lot. But the realities of the salary cap are such; you simply can't have everything. It's good though that we also have the biannual exception this year. This can probably net us a piece.

I'd be surprised if JO retires. He came back from that knee injury to play quite well down the stretch. He can still contribute 20 minutes a night.
I'd cap that off with getting another head coach that can figure out how to incorporate those young players and the bench in general to keep the starters fresh into the playoffs. someone who can't be outcoached by Spoelsta -- setting the bar fairly low for initial expectations.

Not sure what to make out of it.In any case, I'd rather have a starter that is healthier. Jermaine has been great, but he has been out a lot, too. That destroys team rhythm.

Can you combine an exception as part of a trade? Let's say we wanted to trade JO if he retires plus our exception for a guy who makes 8.5 MM can we do that?
