Rondo better get his elbow fixed and shoot 7.2 million jumpers and 7.2 million free throw's a day... It's a joke when other teams are 3 feet off of him, the worst part of everything is that he doesnt take the ball to the basket cause he sucks at shooting free throw's and doesn't want the contact... I realize everything he brings to the table but not being able to shoot free throw's 5 years in the league is unacceptable, It is scary how dominating he would be of he could be a decent jump/free throw shooter!!!

I've always wondered if the size of his hands has anything to do with how poor his shot is. I know they always said that contributed to Shaq being a bad free throw shooter....any one know if this could have anything to do with it?

You're over simplifying it. You should have a read of some of the older "Why won't Rondo drive" threads.

That said, perfect time for rondo to get his shot happening.

Through the first four games of the series Rondo had as many shots at the rim as Wade, and one more than LeBron.

This gets so annoying. Hes an all nba first team defender who averages 10+ assists a game when healthy. Give the guy his props.

and he could be one of the greatest point guards of all time if he became even a slight threat from the perimeter and could shoot 75% from the line.

Read that last line again. One more time.

He's at least a slight threat from the perimeter now. The FT shooting would help. I still think there's a decent chance he gets there. Not into the mid-high 80s or anything, but mid-70s.

I know Jason Kidd was not a great shooter in his early days, but was he as bad as Rondo? And, at least Kidd could make free throws. I don't think I have ever seen a poorer shooting quality point guard in the 45-plus years I have been watching the NBA.

Mentioning point guards, there are a lot of good ones in the league. In my opinion, Westbrook has definitely passed by Rondo, and I really like the way Mike Conley plays. Bottom line: while I love the pass first, true point guard approach that Rondo takes, you really need a point guard that can handle a little more of the scoring load.

If Rondo's jump shot does not improve and if he does not take it to the hoop more rather than passing off when he has an open lane, he will not become a better player.

I find the NBA defensive team to be puzzling. Is Rondo really a better defender than Tony Allen? Both are guards, correct?

Rondo does need to improve his jumper but more importantly he needs to get healthy.

At the start of the season he didn't have a jumper but he was still pushing the tempo and getting to the rim. Racking up record assists. Then he slowed down due to a myriad of injuries. Regardless of if Rondo can hit the jumper or not we want him creating on his way to the hoop not shooting jumpers.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

In my opinion he should call up Jason Kidd in the summer to help him because he seems to be the only one that I could think of that went from shooting bad to being in the top 5 of 3 pointers of all time. Ray probably did all he could do so maybe the next teacher to help could be Kidd. I think it's more mental than physical with him. He probably makes them in practice, but can't seem to make them in games.
If he learned and became a better shooter overall do you k ow how good he will be. Everyone says the same thing he could be one of the top players in the NBA if he just learned how to be a better shooter and keep it consistent.

Playing half the minutes of most starters probably hurt Tony. But if TA made first team all-defense it would have been with Rondo, not instead of him. Kobe would have been bumped down to second team as he got fewer votes than Rajon.

A little bit of that and also, if you've already developed a certain way of holding the ball and shooting the ball, it's difficult to change your shooting form, even through practice. I played in a club for seven years (albeit on s small-scale level) and the guys that had trouble shooting were usually the ones with awkward-looking strokes and they usually had trouble hitting the J's, even though that was the thing they were always working on.

One can only hope that Rondo's shot will become more reliable in the future but he probably won't ever become a threepoint threat a la Ray. But, if he could just develop a reliable 18-footer, he'd be in good shape.

The guy has torn ligaments in his elbow.

He wasnt passing up jumpers like that during the season
