We lost for a lot of reasons, Rondo's injury being one of them.

Other reasons (not in any particular order):

* Lack of post offense, or any timely offense

* Lack of post / penetration defense

* Lack of rebounding, especially toward the end of the game

* Injuries to Shaq, Delonte, JO, etc.

* Doc's rotations

* Failure to execute down the stretch

* Fatigue / age

* Amazing shots by Lebron and Wade

* Failure to defend James Jones

* KG's 1-for-12 in Game 4

* Lack of home court advantage

* The Perk trade

* Lack of contribution overall from the bench

* BBD's utter failure to show up

* The refs

I'm not willing to say that we would have won with a healthy Rondo, since we fell down 0-2 with him in the lineup.  He would have helped, but we would have probably also needed to have multiple things listed above also go our way.

We might not have won the series, but if Rondo is healthy I'm confident the Celtics season wouldn't have been over yet.

The C's/Heat in my view were two very evenly matched teams with Rondo playing well. With him hobbled we did well to keep games 4 & 5 so close.

Our team completely fell apart after the Perk trade.  It kinda makes sense, though...  I kept thinking, "Our team has been here before... they will get it together", but the only players left from 08 were KG, Ray, Pierce, Rondo and Glen Davis.  That team is gone.  Glen is a bum.  Rondo was playing with one arm and the big 3 is just getting old.

Heat are better.  LeBron James is dominant.  You throw in Wade and we didn't have a chance.

Beating the Knicks was fools gold.  We swept Melo and a bunch of d-leaguers.  The Celtics have been garbage since trading Perk.  It wasn't all because of Perk, though.

I think thats one of a few other reasons why we lost.What about not having a decent center or any athletic bigs,especially from the bench.I would say the lack of decent backups to give the starters breaks throughout the series.Doc not giving(trusting)Carlos a shot at running the team more once Rondo was injured might be something to consider.I personally felt Carlos could have done some good in games 4 and 5.It was evident in the 4th quarter of game #5 the Big 3 appeared out of gas.If i had to put one key thing that outweighed all the other problems it would be the lack of confidence in the bench players to give the starters enough rest when needed which lead to a lot of unforced turnovers,inconsistent play on the offensive end,and not able to continue to rebound at a high enough rate.Fatigue was a big factor from the starters last year in game#7finals and it showed the same last night.imo

Fans have short memories.  Rondo was perfectly healthy the first two games and we lost.  Not to mention, we lost Game 2 in the exact same way that we lost Game 5.

So no, I don't believe a healthy Rondo was the difference between us winning and losing the series.

  Fans don't have short memories, but the understanding that not every game is the same. Something like the way Miami's big three were healthy for game 3 and lost, which doesn't guarantee a similar outcome in future games.

  Before Rondo's injury we were a +16 with him playing and -27 (in about 27 minutes) with him on the bench. It's not like his presence didn't make a difference.

  The team didn't do better (or as well) with Rondo on the bench in any of the 2.5 games after the injury.

I don't know if it was all that evenly matched. The Heat two top-five NBA players and another top 20. It's arguable that at this point, the C's had one top-20 players. With these players playing the majority of the minutes, it's easy to do the math.

May I add the unbelievable amount of unforced turnovers?

Jeez, I don't know how I forgot those.  Yeah, they were a big factor, too.

There were a lot of reasons. You're entitled to miss one.

If Rondo were healthy and he was dropping triple doubles every night....then yea, we might have won this series.

If KG were dropping 28/18 these last two games, we would have won too.

  Those two events would probably have added 20+ points to our totals. I think the games were a little closer than you recall them being.

celtics lost because they were too old...they clearly weren't as good as Miami....shaq was useless, that is why they got him for the vet min salary.
