I know its common to blame it on the refs, and we didnt lose because of them....but ist it kind of hard to beat a team who shoots on average twice as many free throws as you?

it seems that as long as you touch or breath on wade/lebron they go to the line, while many times Pierce or green would get mugged and its a "block"

They took the ball to the hoop, we didnt...the free throw disparity is the difference

I didn't watch but were they driving to the hoop more than us? If they were then I really don't want to hear this excuse. You will not get fouls if you don't drive to the hoop to get fouled. PERIOD.

No, the reason they took it to the hoop is because they knew the whistles would follow. It is easy to "man up" and drive the lane when you know you will get to the line.

Meanwhile, Boston could not get OBVIOUS fouls called as the game wore on.

It was really sad.  I could count the number of Pierce drives tonight on one hand, Rondo would pass out of the lane every time he got in, he couldnt even attempt a layup, and Ray...well you know Ray doesnt go in there.

Who was supposed to be getting to the line for us?

The Heat are built for that.  Lebron and Wade can drive the lane, jump into the defender, and count on the ref to blow the whistle.  It's one of their great advantages and they used it tonight.

At halftime we had 14 free throws with 18 points in the paint to Miami's 23 free throws with 20 points in the paint. Do the math... and in the 4th everytime Miami went to the lane they got Fts. It is true we took more 3's and jumpshots but there were at least 5 drives of Celtics (Pierce, KG, Green notably) where they got mugged and didn't get anything. So much that Miami had still a foul to give with 40 seconds left in the game!

Oh, I agree with this.  Im just saying you cant expect to get to the line by shooting jumpers.

Wade and Lebron move so fast that when they make contact it looks worse and the refs blow the whistle.  Ray can go to the lane and get knocked to the ground but because he's moving at a slower speed the contact doesnt look as shot-altering

AKA Lebron and Wade are gifted free throws in every game

It's why the NBA is getting to be unwatchable. No one even looks to put the ball in the hoop. Just look for the nearest defender and jump straight into him. And if you're a star, forget it. There's your 30 points per. This isn't even basketball anymore.

Thanks Dru. Pretty much a combination of us not going to the hoop enough combined with questionable calls when we did.

It's true. This game was totally rigged from the beginning. I'm not whining, it's an objective fact that statistically double the number of free throws is essentially impossible if the game is being called similarly. How about right when the Celtics are pulling away we get Pierce's "travel," Baby's "travel," KG's "offensive foul on a pick as Ray drains a 3," etc., etc., etc.

It's been that way all series. We got robbed in Game 1 and 4 for the same reason. You can't play 5 on 8.

Ah, and I conveniently forgot Howard shoving baby, no T. Bibby trying to tackle Baby, no T, no breakaway foul, but Wade chest bumps Pierce and Paul gets thrown out of the game. David Stern is a terrible commissioner. Basketball these past two years has become much less fun because of it.

156 to 106 for the series. Dwade had 13 one game 14 last game and 15 this game. I will get the stats for total drives and at the rim plays. I am so mad im going to put together a huge list of stats and maybe a documentary.
