did anybody else hear at the beginning of the game broadcast that Rondo has torn ligaments in his elbow?

how is it that he has negative MRI but torn ligaments?

I was happy that he played so well but kinda bummed that that is the state of his elbow.

Yes, I posted a question yesterday, but I think it got lost in the game hoopla.

I always thought that "negative MRI" means "no structural damage", regardless of whether it's bone or sinew. Though I can see how it will be hard for such a dislocation to occur without ligament damage.

it's pretty strange that no one is talking about that report. I was shocked to hear that news for  the first time right before game time.

are the local media just not asking the right questions or what?

Of course he has torn ligaments, it's impossible for the joint to dislocate like that without tearing anything. The media reports should be more clear about it though.

Maybe they mean that they're not COMPLETELY torn just a partial tear. Kinda vaugue at any rate.

Not to state the obvious; but Rondo was no where near 100% and will not be for a while.

This simply isn't true.  I dislocated mine once, they popped it back in and I played the next day.  I don't know from Rondo's particular diagnosis.  But it definitely IS possible to dislocate your elbow as badly as he did and not have torn ligaments.  It really doesn't even hurt that bad when it pops back in.  The mental trauma of seeing your arm like that, and a general feeling of weakness in it, are the biggest issues I had.
