Being down 3-1 against the hot heat who have homecourt sounds impossible, especially with how Rondo has been playing and how the officiating has been, and basically how BBD has been playing, and how well Lebron and Wade have been playing, and how Shaq is not healthy at all, and not to mention that their offensive execution at the end of games is putrid.

BUT.

I'm going to shine some light on the negativity. Look, these guys are down...but not out. The Heat feel like they have this series locked up, and might be too cocky for their own good.
IF the Celtics lose game 5, well, I would probably cry...for 2 reasons, the Celtics that I have loved and watched my whole childhood (Big Three era) is probably over, and in my opinion they have underachieved, AND Hollinger was right.
But lets say the Celtics win game 5, which i believe they will. Its not the X's and O's that will win them the game, if the Celtics are still the Celtics, they will come out with the Heart of a Champion and steal the game on the road.

Then we come to the Garden with ALL the pressure on the Heat, and I don't buy into them winning with all the pressure especially on the road. Say we win that game, which I don't see the Heat winning if it gets that far, then its a one game series.

The Heat are going to be second guessing themselves at this point, and the pressure and the media will get to them like it has all season. The Celtics will win game 7.

And heres an interesting way to look at it, if we win game 5. If we win game 5, the optimist (me) will look at it this way. The Celtics and the Heat each stole a game on the road, as a pose to protecting their homecourt, but it is a 3-2 series going back to Boston, just how we expected it to be.

Of course, this is highly hypothetical, but I REFUSE to give up on these guys. They have too much pride and heart to blow thsi series.

But like I said, Celtics are going to need to play FLAWLESS because lebron and wade have potential to take over a game (game 1,2,3,4) AND the refs are going to be working against us.

Don't give up hope people, if we win game 5, this series is right their for the taking.

The team knows themselves what losing yesterday meant. This team cannot win 3 of the next 3. Time for you to accept it too!

I'll be surprised if they play with any sort of ferocity in g5. Everyone has to accept what is happening here.

I agree with you Celticsfan336.  Winning game 5 is a BIG IF, but IF they do, I also feel they will win the series.

Highly unlikely.  Still, '04 happened to the Sox, so I'll never say never.

I think the Celtics gave it everything they had left yesterday, and came up just short.

I don't see them having very much left for a win in Miami.

The fact everyone assumes they'll lose Game 5 has to mean SOMETHING....they're essentially saying that if they win Game 5, winning the series is VERY possible, as opposed to just a throw away win.

I do not think why we have to be so pesimistic. If PP would have score in last 17 second of regular time, today was different story. Boston has a great team to comeback from 1-3 to 4-3. Everything is possible.

C's can win game 5. I would not be shocked to see them do so. This is series is over in my eyes though whether it be in 6 or 7 though. Wade and LeBron are too good to let this series slip away considering they have HCA.

I'm in a wait and see mode

If the Celtics end up winning game 5 and 6, I have no doubt they would win Game 7 and the series

I don't see them having very much left for a win in Miami.

I do get frustrated by your pessimism in the game threads, but I do agree with you here.  In the game threads, I am so charged in the immediacy of the event, wanting to feel optimism even when they are down, that your posts often bum me out.   In the light of day though, the truth is probably close to what you say above.

The team gave an amazing try to even-up the series and came up a hair short.  Conjuring up the energy it will take to battle another 48 minutes tomorrow night will be difficult for this old and injured team.   But... when tip-off arrives I am  going to be positive and energized and trying to will them to victory as usual. Hope you will too!

How can you guys seriously say they played good/gave it their all yesterday.

Pierce, Rondo, West, KG, all had turnovers in the last 3 minutes at crucial times.
Had they not turned the ball over, or executed toward the end, they could have won.

i could see the celtics winning games 5 and 6 and painfully losing game 7 too.  this feels like last years finals.  a series the celtics could've/should've won, but gave away a couple of games.  you can't give good teams too many opportunities or you'll exhaust yourself, mentally and physically, trying to dig out of the hole.

that being said, the celtics are capable of winning 3 in a row against this team.  it wouldn't be a miracle.

this series is nothign like the finals in my opinon. we outplayed the lakers in everygame except 1 and 6. Then the other 2 they won by our failure to execute at the end. the Heat have outplayed us badly in games 1 and 2 and the whole second half of game 4. last year in the finals we were up 3-2 and gave the lakers too much momentum, hopefully the heat do the same to us.

People who call this a miracle is wrong, it is just simply one game at a time. Look, if we win game 5, it will the same exact scenario as if we won game 4 and lost 5. But obviously people don't want to understand the one game at a time thing and jump to the they cant win 3 games in a row vs the heat. Kind of a weird thought, but i hope you can understand what im trying to say.

The Celtics simply need to force a game 7 and hopefully we can prevail. id rather lose in 7 and give the heat everything we got then lay down for those queens.

Well KG and Ray were atrocious from the field.  If they were their normal selves we would have won game 4.  We were in fact leading the whole game regardless and our offense just stalled entirely in the 4th and still almost won.   West has given a nice offensive punch (as well as aggressive D on Wade) to our team the last couple games.   I'd like to see him a play a bit more.  If Baby can give us anything that would certainly help too.  He is due for a 10 point game.  I hope Shaq is feeling better by the day to give us a bit more as well.

the Heat have outplayed us badly in games 1 and 2

In game 2, the score was 80-80, 5 minutes before the end
