Why so sad...

Accros the blog I read posts of negativism, stress and sorrow. I love the Celts as much as anyone but from the first day of the Big 3 era i knew one thing:
THIS TEAM IS UNBEATABLE WHEN HEALTHY
and now they are far from that. If we manage to eliminate the Heat(even if we won game 4) it would be one of the hardest, scrapiest series win in the history of basketball.
So bow down to these guys, they are playing hard, they are playing injured and playing against 2 superstars in the prime.

+1....I believe that with some luck, we could be 4peating this year..instead, BAD LUCK plagued us for 3 years...I'll take that one title, though...nice payback to many long suffering fans

2008....our first...well deserved, but one PJ jumper away from not happening

2009....even with the KG injury, we were rolling...Powe's injury killed us...we had a legit shot

2010...KG almost back to form, gutsed it out to a game 7, when we were supposed to lose early: Perk's knee, Artest playing the game of his life, RA having no "legs" because Artest cheap shot-charlie-horsed him earlier in the series or we would have won it earlier...everything fell right for the Fakers

2011...bench decimated by injuries from the very start (DWest  post-suspension, MD, Erden etc)put too much strain on the starters, so by now they're burnt...

We're not dead yet, but it feels that way, especially the way we frittered away that game last night.....

Hopefully we will not go gently into that good night.

I'm not sad because the Celtics are going to win the next three. That's right, I said it and you can take it to the bank.

Why I am so sad (Assuming the Celtics lose this series): The window is closed because we're only going to get worse due to age and the Heat are only going to get better. If we keep the team together it's unlikely we beat the Heat in the future.

As we get older we're not going to get more healthy but less healthy. I would say sorrow is an accurate response when you are faced with the changing of the guard via the demise of your team at the hands of a bunch of players you hate.

I am torn because I feel if we had a healthy Rajon Rondo we could have took this Game 4 and knotted things up.

It's obvious he wasn't himself we needed him to execute down the stretch. It feels like the Perk injury all over again. It sucks.

Moving forward, the reality is, we'll have one season (next year) where we probably are a playoff team but not a true title contender, before the big contracts expire and we get a shot to rebuild quickly by adding 1-2 stars. It sucks in that we want the Big Three to get one more ring, and that we've had so much bad luck with injuries the past 3 years, but it'll be okay. Besides, we've been title contenders for 4 straight years. Do you remember...the previous 20 or so? Man, now THOSE were minus 2002) sad years. This is a bummer of a year because of what's happening, but look at teams that dream of having our year.

I'm coming to grips with the situation our team is in now....on some level I'm also relieved because I won't have to worry about any more injuries and losses. Everything from here on is just going to be gravy....I'm looking forward to our rebuilding phase and cheering on new and young players.

Its heartbreaking because this is probably the last real shot we have at a title. Miami, OKC, Chicago, and even Memphis fans now can all say "this sucks, but there's always next year" if they lose. Not us. Barring an extended lockout or some kind of miracle swan song run, this year is it.

This whole era has been a blessing.

To watch these guys battle it out through everything gives me great pride, admiration and inspiration.
