My final thread on the trade

Maybe the Celts would still be down 3-1 even if they had Perk, but the bottom line is the trade was not a good one. The Celts got back nothing to help them in this trade. When we look at it in the future, that will be the conclusion. The Celts got nothing for Perk.

Actually, I'd say the trade looks pretty good right now.  If we hadn't made the trade, there's a solid chance we'd still be down 3-1.  Hard to see how Perk would've made a difference against the Heat.

At least now we have that Clippers pick and a chance to look at Jeff Green for another year to see if he's worth holding onto.  Either way, we avoid overspending to keep Perk in the off-season.

Sounds good to me.

That is my point. Might as well have rode Perk through the end of this year to see what might have happened. Since they got nothing from him in the trade anyway (Yes. I know, Jeff Green has great potential and they have a draft pick). Neither of those things helped them this season.

I was just discussing today how the trade turned out to be good for the celts.  The only asset Perk brings to the table is guarding strong, offensive centers.  Dwight is out and Lakers are out.  He could help guard Z-Bo if we meet him and that's about it now.  In return, we got Jeff Green who can back up the wing.  If we hadn't got him, we'd be rolling Pavlovic out there for 20 minutes per night.  And we get another year out of Green where Perk would be gone.  It turned out to be a good trade I think.

First, Danny could have looked elsewhere for a backup 3. Second, has Jeff Green given this team much more than Pavolic would have? Finally, it seems no one in OKC misses Green and Krstic.

Jeff Green has been playing very well. Stop complaining about who we got/got rid of.

Glen Davis has been atrocious, and Shaq got hurt again. Plus, J'O has been playing excellent. Perk would not have solved the problem. The Celtics can't close games anymore because there offense goes stagnant thanks to the complete 180 change in Big Baby's game.

If you want to complain about JG's stat line, why don't you post some of Perks?

Do they keep a count for cheerleading on the sidelines?

Why don't you post the stuff that the OKC guys have said about Perk and how he has drawn the team together and become a leader? I guess though that Jeff Green has had the same impact here (not fair, I know). Point is that Perk has had an impact in OKC, Green and Krstic have had zero impact in Boston.

Please list the journeymen who average almost 9 points a game on 20 minutes while shooting over 50% from 3 point and from the field.

Green has been by far our most efficient scorer this series while playing above average defense on Lebron. It is not his fault that he gets so few minutes so that Doc can play Davis more.

So your evidence for how we miss Perkins is not his stats or on court play, but puff pieces about him from a team that is getting destroyed in the paint by an 8th seed and that is struggling in part because Westbrook and Durant keeping fighting to see whose team it is?

The idea that Perkins is somehow some mega guru that can turn veterans around even when his play is below par by sheer will of character is the type of stuff that sportswriters love, but has no actual bearing on the game.

Lets be honest, neither team made out on this trade.  Perk is as slow as he has ever been post injury.  OKC is petrified to give him the ball on offense, and he is not doing much on defense either.  He can't guard Randolph or Gasol ...

Meanwhile, Jeff Green has done little but give our starters a breather here and there and occasionally showed us a flash of potential.  Clearly he did not earn Doc's trust. I can't believe how timid/passive he is.
