Anyone who thinks we would've been in a different situation if Perk was still here is kidding themselves or holding onto an Ainge grudge that they need to get over.

We are down 3-1 in this series because our big four have underperformed. KG has had one great game out of three.
Rondo has one arm for gods sake- what do you expect?

Lebron and Wade have hit some unbelievable shots and our starters have underperformed- they are old. Their legs couldn't handle the over time and Rondo couldn't help them with one arm and no free throw dependency.

We've been bitten by the injury bug and luckily for us we had a Jermaine Oneal who was arguably much more valuable against a team like the Heat than Perkins would ever have been.

We could well still be losing if we had Perk.

Our chances would be better.  I keep hearing people talk about having JO out there as if it's an either/or situation.  JO plays about 40% - 50% of the team's center minutes.

Who's playing the other 50%?  A lot of those are Baby Davis.  How's that working out?

You really don't think that the team defense would be better if we had Perkins out there instead of an ancient Shaq and a useless Baby?  Frankly, I think YOU are kidding yourself if you don't think, at the very least, the defense would be significantly improved with Perk still on the roster.

And every complaint about "KG's only had one great game out of four" is even more true about Jeff Green.

The reason JO is only playing 20 minutes a night is Doc, and nothing else. He could easily play 5 or 8 more minutes and reduce Davis' minutes to almost nothing. The lack of Perkins is not the reason Davis is playing so much.

And Green has been consistently good this series against Miami. It is not his fault that even though he is our best shooter this series he gets the same minutes as Davis.

As for Jeff Green being efficient, he is shooting a little better than 40 percent from the field in the playoffs, It is not too hard to be the most efficient scorer on this bench, by the way.

Hence why I said THIS SERIES. His performance against New York is irrelevant to why we are down 3-1. He's shot over 50% from 3 and from the field while playing ok defense.

He didn't say Shaq. He said Shaq and Jermaine. At least Jermaine is healthy, and the only reason he is not playing more than 20 minutes a game is Doc, not health.

I will find the quotes again after I get out of a meeting, but Danny focused mainly on Shaq. Yes, he mentioned JO, but he said this was a far better team with Shaquille O'Neal and that Shaquille O'Neal was going to be healthy.

Here's what he said:
Quote
Nobody put more time and effort into helping Perk become a better player and a better man than me. I spent so much time with Perk. I feel like I raised him in the NBA. I’m a big fan of Kendrick Perkins. I just think we have every bit as good a team now, and it helps us for the future. And the numbers back that up. Now if Shaq and Jermaine [O'Neal] can’t play we could be in trouble. But Perk’s out for three weeks right now. He’s coming off an ACL tear and he’s got a sprained MCL on the other knee, so the health of all of those players is in question. I’m a Perk fan. Love him as a player. But I think he’s a player that is not irreplaceable. Time will tell.”

He also said that shaq was the reason the celtics were leading the conference at the time. But he never said he made the trade because he thought Shaq specifically would be healhty.

I think it is amazing that we are arguing just how much we miss Perkins in a night Perkins almost lost the game for OKC (didn't box out Randolph, fouled him, then proceeded to miss two clutch free throws, all while allowing 24 offensive rebounds). In a night where Doc decided to play small because he wanted to not because he had to.

how to blow a NBA title at the trade deadline...by Danny Ainge

Oh please.  Have you seen Perk lately?  What would he have given us that JO didn't?  Would Anthony Parker or, more likely, Sasha Pavlovic have given us more than Jeff Green?

Stop blaming the trade.

I love how people can definitively say that the trade had no impact on this team. Just amazes me. Meanwhile, we get to look at the 39-year-old behemoth on the bench. The guy who DA was counting on to be healthy and help the C's win number 18. Maybe Perk would not win it for the Celts, but you can be sure that Shaq is not going to win anything.

Well I'd rather get something for perk if we didn't win the title than not win and get zero for him.

Would perk have kept Rondo's arm from dislocating? Would Perk have made KG shoot better? Would Perk have made Doc coach better? Would Perk have stopped Leroid from making some ridiculous shots?
Back to wanting Joe fired.

Because that collision with Lebron killed him.

When Lebron stayed down for a couple extra seconds I feared Shaq would be hobbled, and he was.
