Call me crazy (and someone may   ;D ).   I think Shaq should start. He's not gonna be in there a lot I think if he runs with the starters he gets more of an opportunity to get something going early, and it allows Jermaine to eat up more minutes on the 2nd unit.  Plus I like Shaq next to KG much more than I do next to Baby.  I think Jermaine and Baby are a better frontline for the second unit.

Also I'm thinking we're gonna be seeing more Carlos Arroyo and I don't think that's a bad thing.  We can just call him Rondo's left arm for the rest of the playoffs.

I think this should happen once he gets back up to speed and is maybe 80% and can play around 20 mins a game. He's still struggling to get up and down the court properly.

I've heard worse ideas. But, is it worth maybe messing with JOs routine/confidence to give shaq that time w kg?

The only lineup tweak I want is the one I saw in game 3 i.e. Davis playing no more then a quarter of total time.  He is killing the team when he is playing 20+ minutes, keep him no more then 11 (and frankly I'd rather just have Krstic or Murphy play and leave Davis on the bench the whole game, but that isn't going to happen).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Yes..and it should be keeping BBD less than 12minutes

Minimize BBD's minutes as much as posible. Look what it did in game 3. The rest should be kept as is for we already have a rythm.

The way the starting 5 came out and played at the beginning of the game and the beginning of the 3rd quarter, I would not change it.

The change I would make it have that 5 spend more time on the floor together if possible.  They controlled the tempo of the game and really locked down on defense.

Agreed.  Davis playing 10-15 minutes >>>> Davis playing 20-25 minutes.

I also think Davis is due for a big game.  I think having Shaq back will help him, because it allows him to play a little more in the pick and pop game (I know its frustrating, but, particularly with the second unit, he can be deadly in that, if he is shooting in rhythm), and it allows him to roam a bit more defensively, looking for opportunities to step in for charges, where he knows there is a wall at the basket behind him.

With only 1 day of rest after that battle on Saturday night, the C's really are going to need their bench to step up big tonight, and I hope Davis, in shorter minutes, can get back to where he was last year...and perhaps West can play the role of Donkey.

I like Jermaine out there with the starters at this point, though I don't think Shaq would disrupt things.

I was into this idea at first under the impression that Shaq could give us 15-20 min but anything less than that and he should be with the second unit just giving us a couple buckets here and there and just taking up space.

That coupled with the chemistry JO has attained with the starters and it just doesn't really make much sense right now

When Shaq's healthy I completely agree. However at this point its nice to have a stabilizing presence in the middle even if for only 4 minutes a half in that 2nd unit.

Shaq is not healthy enough to start. Play him 10 minutes or so off the bench. That was good the other night.

Very good, it allows us to use BBD exclusively at the PF position when Miami isn't going super small with James Jones at the 4.

A much better role for BBD to contribute.

What's the difference between that and starting Shaq?  Shaq's not too good at creating his own shot anymore, the only way he's going to be super-effective is from drop offs after a Rondo/Pierce drive.  Putting him with the starters also allows JO to become to main big off the bench.  Jermaine could definitely fix a lot of our bench's defense and rebounding issues.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I think there can be an argument made either way, and all things equal, the real reason is probably just not to mess with things at this point in the series, but here are my three reasons not to change things.

1. JO has built some nice chemistry with the starting unit, and I just don't think this is the time to mess with that.  While I think Shaq could easily be integrated into the starters, I am not as confident about JO playing with the reserves, since his defense will be less impactful with that group, and he doesn't bring the offense Shaq does.

2. Having Shaq in their with the second unit really gives them an offensive threat that they haven't had.  When KG comes off the floor, they really needed someone else who the other team at least needs to respect in the post, and Shaq is the only other guy on the roster who really gives that.  It should really help open things up for the second unit.

3. It didn't play out in game 3, but having Shaq in for the first few minutes of the second and fourth quarter could be huge in getting the Heat in foul trouble at crucial points in the game.  Joel Anthony cannot handle Shaq, and if they continue to feed him as he gets his legs under him a little more, the C's are going to be getting the Heat into the penalty a lot earlier in the 2nd and 4th quarters, which could be keys to finishing off the halfs strong.

No, JO has earned the starting job and it would be wrong to take it away from him.

However if I were Doc I would love to see Jeff Green first off the bench playing the 4. Also I know this will never happen but I want to see Wafer in the game for like 5-10 min.I think that rest could go a long way for Paul/Ray.
