I went to one of the Lakers sites (SS&R?) this winter to look at their game thread when they played us, and some posters were complaining that the site had set its language filter to block "Gasoft".  I think there's been an undercurrent of this stuff since they got him.

You would think Laker fans would give Pau a pass for what he's done for that team the last 3-4 years....without him they aren't back to back champions right now.

Although you could say the same thing about Celtics fans with Rondo...both fanbases are pretty tough on their players.

What has he done for the Lakers lately? Assure them a quick second round exit.

He is the biggest reason why that's about to happen. Offensively a mess, key turnovers at the wrong time, rebounding down, and plays terrible defense on Nowitzki.

You can appreciate what a player has done for your team in the past, but at the same time, you still have to hold them accountable if they're playing horrible (like you would be in any profession), and he hasn't shown up at all in the series.

And yes, he will come back next year at his usual form. The only good thing about this post-season is that Bynum is looking great - I don't know why Lakers fans are just assuming they're getting Dwight Howard, but I would think Orlando would have to like what they see in Bynum. Will just have to see what happens.

...plays terrible defense on Nowitzki.

Read today that Nowitzki is shooting 19-25 (76%) with Gasol guarding him this series.  That is pretty ridiculous.

Hey, I'd be happy with the Celtics putting together a package for him.

I don't see the logic in booing Pau and bashing him incessantly when he's slumping.  The guy has carried the Lakers for long stretches, and your fan base has decided to make it even tougher for him to get out of his funk.  Well done, I say.

It's kind of funny but Pau was the real MVP of last year's finals. But you can never have a European MVP except maybe for Dirk.

Exactly!!

Tell you what LA....if ya don't like Gasol, we'll give you that 1st round pick we acquired from OKC this year for him.

It's funny how Laker fans aren't grilling Kobe...he's been looked at like a hero coming back from these "injuries" of his and all.

As great as Kobe is supposed to be (and yes I'll admit that he is a great player) - why could HE take over these games and bring LA to a victory?

Didn't Scotty Pippen just say a month or two ago that Kobe was one of the all-time greats or something?

C'mon Kobe! Put LA on your back and get off of Gasols ;D

Or Tony Parker. ;)

The funniest thing to me is that a lot of Lakers fans seemingly want to move him for Andrei Kirilenko.  Um, yeah, he's mentally and physically tougher.   ;D

Wha??

so are they going to run their offense through Andre instead of Gasol?

Marc > Pau. Anyone catch the Grizz game earlier today? You kept hearing "tough" and "aggressive" among other adjectives next to "Gasol." It was weird.

I don't feel like digging through the cesspool at the moment (actually, I have to forsake the Celtics to watch Pacquiao-Moseley), but how much do Lakers fans believe the story that Laker team chemistry is in the toilet because Paul Gasol blames Kobe Bryant (and his wife) for Gasol's break-up with his fiancee?

Jw are you from the Phillipines? And where did this rumor start about Pau and his fiancee?

My family is from the Philippines.

It looks like the Gasol rumor may have started or been spread by ****.com, a popular, urban celebrity gossip site which is sort of like a black Perez Hilton.  I think I first heard of the site due to the Gloria James-Delonte West rumors.  So, the rumor could be right, but it also could be very wrong.

For those who think the negativity on this blog is bad, they should go to www.lakersground.net.

Over there, you can read comments like:

Quote
bench that overpaid soft mental case [Pau]

Quote
There is only person who lost this game for us and the only reason we have been playing so (bleep) this year....his name is Pau Gasol

Quote
Pau can't even grab a simple rebound right now without flailing like a gutted fish? Please - Pau lost us this series and no one else.

Quote
I think it's an insult to Dirk to even mention Pau-thetic's name in the same sentence

Quote
its hard to play 4v5 (When gasol is in)

Quote
The problem is Pau. He's seriously done as a Laker IMO.

Quote
Pau has let us all down. Not because of his lack of performance, but because of his lack of heart.

There are a ton more where that came from.  Literally, dozens and dozens of posts talking about trading Pau, about how they can't wait for him to be off the team, etc.

Unless I'm mistaken, this is the same Pau Gasol who has helped the Lakers to three straight Finals appearances, and who was arguably their most important player in last year's Finals.  In short, no Pau = no titles.

I guess in a way it's like some Celtics fans with Rondo, but Rondo was never one of the top two players on a championship team.  Pau is struggling right now, but Lakers fans come across as ingrates.

The scary part here of course is that Roy went to a lakers site and then posted the site here.

In other news.....I'll be right back
