If we are to comeback in this series and go any further we need the Glen Davis of 2008-2010. Big Baby needs to go back to what he's paid to do. Get second chance buckets! He was much better for us in the playoffs when he was doing this stuff. The occasional jumpshot is alright but right now he is trying to do too much get back to the basics Glen Play Defense, Take Charges, Grab Rebounds, Get Second Chance Buckets and take a jumper if your wideeeee open.
Who agrees?

The crazy thing is that Baby was killing the Heat last year (especially in game 2). Different team and times I guess but still. I have given up any hope of Baby stepping up to be honest, he has sucked for the entire playoffs so I'm not expecting any kind of miracle.

We need Glen Davis on the bench.  For the past few months he has gotten progressively slower, his legs have gotten tired, his rebounding technique (chest first w/ back to the basket) has gotten worse, he has forgotten his role, and he has even apparently gained weight.

I route for the guy, but have ZERO faith that he will be a benefit on the court.  And its unfortunate too, b/c we could really use his play from a year ago.

Holy cow, look how fat and out of shape he's got in a contract year!

I think last year may have been his peak, unfortunately.

I am pretty sure we need more improved and consistent play from our Big 4, more than anything.

If we can't get that, we shouldn't expect anything special from our role players.

Our role players "feed off" of what our stars are doing.

If our stars are not doing the job, there is less chance for role players to get going.

He played pretty well against the Heat in the regular season. I think he is trying to do more than what he is capable of.

Where does this idea come that Davis is a good offensive rebounder?  In fact, he's not a very good defensive rebounder either.  He has a very short wingspan for a big man (T.Rex arms if you ask me) and can't jump so he loses most rebounding battles.

Beyond that, it's quite obvious that what motivates Glen Davis is "gettin' his".  He has become a selfish player who will chuck up most any shot in his range, and he's not that great a shooter.

I've had enough.  Trade the guy.

I think we need less Glen Davis.

And if Shaq's fairly healthy, we should get it.  Baby is at his best when he's playing power forward.  Hopefully with Shaq back, we'll see him limited to backing up KG, with only spot minutes at the 5.

And that's not a knock on Baby.  I like him.  But he's not a 30+ mpg player on a championship team.

BBD is and always will be a overweight undersized PF / Center. His many talents are mitigated by be predicable and unimaginative play. Once people started paying attention it was no problem to figure out how to defend BBD. He is not a great rebounder or a great offensive threat in the paint. He defender can drift or pack the paint leaving him open for mid range shots but at what cost. He is a great hustle player with big heart.

He will never be Charles Barkley or Zach Randolph; but he could sure learn something from them.

He's 25, he hasn't peeked for sure. I'll admit he has to lose some of that Baby Fat though.

I really hope he gets out of this terrible terrible funk and gets a hold of himself. He can be good. I got touched by watching his segment on The Association and hope he stays a Celtic for life. But, again, he has to get a hold of himself.

I'm not expecting to see BBD's best form in this series and perhaps not in the playoffs as a whole either.

Doc Rivers ran him into the ground during the regular season. BBD clearly does not have lively legs. He has tired legs. He is fatigued. He needed to be rested late in the regular season to see his best form in the playoffs but Doc refused to do it.

All I am hoping for is some marginal improvements in the quality of his play from the lowering his minutes ... but I'm not sure he'll be able to get enough rest at this point (before the playoffs end) to give his best play. Maybe the finals are a possibility but probably not in the East semis or conference finals. Just too fatigued.

If Jackie McMullen is right and he has added 15 pounds during this season, we are not going to see the Glen Davis of old. He likely will be playing elsewhere next year.

Baby brings energy off the bench.  Taking blocks, going to floor for lose balls , and playing decent D on guys his height. Doc likes this , as it picks the rest of the team up; energy wise.

But, it also deflates the team when he is over matched , and thats quite often.

Without the lift and a personal set of offensive minded skills to help him overcome his lack of height . He seem to be in over his head when matched up with the superstars.

I would limit his matchups to guys that can't abuse him in the paint so much . As a Backup against backup players.

The front line starters on the better teams really expose his limits .

I'm curious as to if we threw in Davis in the Perk trade we might have been able to grab Ibaka or Harden.

No.  OKC did that trade to free up Ibaka to blossom as a natural PF, and Harden is perhaps their best young guy.
