Paul pulled off the greatest fourth-quarter comeback in NBA playoff history as Boston overcame a 21-point deficit to beat the New Jersey Nets 94-90.

And then in 2008 the Celtics rallied from a 24-point deficit and beat the Los Angeles Lakers 97-91.

Trust in Paul Pierce.

It isn't over.

These guys are too proud and too good for that, this goes at least 6. Also, as poorly as we played in games 1 and 2, we were in it late in both of them and could have pulled them off.

It's a bit early to think about historic comebacks for me since I don't believe we're done yet. We're the road team down 0-2. I'll start to consider if we go down 0-3. If (big if I know) we take care of business at home then we get 1 out of 2 tries for a road win. That's not too bad.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

They were never in game 1 IMO.  Game 2 they were tied at 80 halfway thru 4th Qtr and then all of a sudden it was a blitz by the Heat.

They kept it close in game 1 until around the point where Pierce got tossed, and I felt they missed a golden opportunity in game 2. If they could have gotten just a little bit of offense and lebron missed one of those long jumpers which he usually does, they would have come out with the W.

single game comebacks and series comebacks are different animals

A PP led team has never come back from down 2 in a series to the best of my knowledge....that's the kind of comeback we need

Yup

Well PP had never led a team to victory from a 21 point fourth quarter deficit... until he led a team to victory from a 21 point fourth quarter deficit.

Point is, there's a first for everything. And while single game deficits are different from series deficits, the mental fortitude required to overcome one is the same that's required to overcome the other. In other words, Paul Pierce is as qualified as anybody to lead this charge, and I definitely wouldn't count him out.

Honestly, I do not consider this a "comeback."
Sure, none of us expected to be down 2-0, but this isnt a perfect world and the Celtics really just need to hold their homecourt.

Not saying the Celts aren't capable of coming back in this series, or that Pierce isn't capable of leading the way, just that a single game comeback and a series comeback are indeed very different (as witnessed by the aftermath of the 24 point comeback vs NJ...and even after the `08 Game 4 comeback the Celts lost Game 5).  One is a sprint, the other a sustained effort.
Yup

Agreed.  We've only played half the games in Miami.  Can't comeback unless we go down 3-2.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

PP has underwhelmed me so far.

Both in his offense and in defending Lebron. I have seen enough Paul over the years I just can't wait for him to go on a tear with those pull-up mid range jumpers, go to the line, hit threes, go on a duel with Bron...

Come on Captain, think game 3 in NY,pretty please!

I believe in 2004 the Celtics came back to Boston and lost games 3 and 4 to JO's Indiana Pacers.
We all think we know more than we really do....
