This is going to be the question this summer, but I don't think it can be answered until we see what they can do over the summer.

based on the Jeff Green trade, I'd be shocked if Danny didn't start the rebuild-on-the-fly plan by shopping KG and maybe even Ray around the league - but like Chris alluded to, it will have to wait till after the lockout
I think he makes a hard play for Rudy Gay, who based on the playoffs and other contracts I think Memphis would move.  Maybe bring in a third team (houston or portland perhaps) where the essential pieces are Gay to Boston, KG to Houston/Portland, and Kevin Martin/Brandon Roy to Memphis.  Not sure if Houston/Portland would do that, but I think they might.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Yeah, I think that is the type of deal Danny would be looking at.  I am not sure about Gay in particular (just never struck me as an Ainge guy), but he is the caliber of player Danny would at least be looking at.  The problem is, depending on how the CBA works out, those deals are hard to make.  There are a lot of moving parts, and there also is a lot of competition for impact players.

So, like I said before, I think Danny will look into deals like that, but I also don't think he will have a problem with giving it one more run if the right deal isn't there.

One thing Danny has proven over the years is that even though he is not afraid to take a risk, he also is not afraid to wait things out.  He knows that given the way the contracts are set up on this team, if he makes the wrong move this summer cashing in those chips, then he can do a lot more harm than good.  Regardless of whether they can get a guy like Howard or not in 2012, they are set up to be in a solid position that summer if they pretty much hold tight, so it will take a really good offer to get him to blow things up before then.

I think a contedor may give us a nice, young piece for Ray.  He could help a lot of contendors out in a big way...especially Chicago

Honestly, if the Heat go on to win the championship this year, I would be all for giving the Bulls Ray, just so they could give them a run for their money next year.  If the C's are going to be knocked down a few notches, fine, but please don't let this Heat team have a Dynasty.

I would say the same thing about NJ in a 3-way deal that gets them Dwight Howard and Ray Allen.

Its certainly not my first choice, but I think I hate this Heat team more than I have hated any professional sports team in my life, and I just can't handle watching them celebrate any more.

I agree with the idea of trading Ray, and I do think a lot of the contenders will have interest.

However, how many contenders that need a SG have a nice, young piece to give?  The Bulls don't have much other than Taj Gibson, Ronnie Brewer, and CJ Watson.  Would you trade Ray and perhaps BBD for those players?  I don't think I'd bother.

Right.  I think keeping Allen at his current contract for 1-2 year deals holds more value than trading him.  He's older, he's not going to get you a top draft pick or a younger guy who can replace him.  KG paired with the Clippers first round pick and a future one of ours could possibly get us someone fairly legit I think.

What about Ray for Korver and Reddick?  We get younger, they get better.  We also keep our team balance by keeping a shooter on the floor to spread it

It's embarrassing watching him play sometimes. The other team guards him like he's a 5th grader. It's like watching a JV player play against Varsity sometimes.

Wow, that made me laugh out loud.  I mean it is absolutely true, I had just never thought of it like that.  That is exactly how you play a young kid that shouldn't really be playing pick-up with "adults".  Although its less because you are daring them to shoot and more because you don't feel right blocking, or contesting the shot of a kid that is clearly too young/small to compete.  But yeah, that is a pretty funny/sad comparison with Rondo.

Addressing the larger question, yeah agree with you and others, this appears to be the final dance, win or lose.  Last year was really our best shot to grab another ring but fell short.  If Tony A. or Quissy had been around I would say we would have had a good shot this year.  I don't think this series if over and if we win our two home games, pressure goes right back onto Miami.  (Barkley of all people was defending us last night - not sure if that is a good think or bad).  But the odds definitely are not in our favor.  Particularly if Lebron and Dwade keep playing like they just stepped out of Space Jam.

I'm sure they would, but not enough to give up Harden or Ibaka.

First issue would be they aren't on the same team haha.  Second, they just don't replace Allen.  They simply aren't as good.

I kind of doubt it, since their strategy seems to be to acquire only young, solid players who can be a part of their group moving forward.  They won't commit money to short term solutions.  I can't fault them for that strategy, since the group they have right now is extremely promising.

Probably right.  I still think I'd explore a Rondo + Clippers pick for CP3 deal, though.  Adding Paul to this team might be enough to get us over the hump one last time.

I wouldn't disagree with that, assuming CP3 continued to return to his pre-injury form.  However, do you think there's a realistic chance the Hornets would go for that kind of offer?  Is that really the best they could do for CP3?  Even if we offered Rondo, Bradley, Green and the Clippers pick for CP3, Ariza, and filler, I have to imagine they could get offers with better picks and prospects.

You also need to consider that Chris might have his heart set on NY and would state, like Melo before him, that he'd only sign an extension with the Knicks.
