For all his annoying habits, Bill Simmons still can nail a metaphor/perfect description of a player and he did it with Rondo in his latest column :

Quote
I have spent as much time trying to figure out Rondo these last few years as either of my kids. He's like a cat: Sometimes he jumps on your lap, sometimes you don't see him for days, sometimes he goes down in the basement and kills mice for you, sometimes he's kicking over his own kitty litter box, sometimes he's inexplicably beating up a poodle, sometimes he's hissing at your children … you just never know.

And then he goes on (not the best part but still) :

Quote
The good thing about him: You always know in the first quarter. Did we get Good Rondo today? YES! We got Good Rondo! And lemme tell you something: Boston isn't beating Miami unless Good Rondo shows up four times. At least.

great! Very very accurate! We will know in the 1st quarter, whether or what kind of Rondo we will get. Usually if good Rondo shows up, we usually win!

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I guess it works.

This quote right here is so very true. That's a good thing and a bad thing. The bad being Rondo rarely if ever turns a bad start into a good finish which I absolutely hate.

Shoals is much better:
"We are nearly arrived at the point of actual basketball. There's a pause here, a beat, and then no turning back. Here's what astounds me most about Rajon Rondo: He is pure style, with an almost nasty disregard for formalism. How often does Rondo make the same move twice? When he succeeds, does he attempt to repeat himself? And, more to the point, does anything in his game suggests he learned the canon, or anything resembling fundamentals? That's not to suggest that RR is a sloppy, or showy player. Nope, on top of all that, he makes the most gnarled, baroque maneuver turn into a given. There's nothing self-consciously fancy or stylized about him. Rondo simply creates, going on what works, and refusing to acknowledge boundaries of good taste or the existence of time-honored solutions. He acknowledges only the situation at hand, the players on the floor, and the forces he feels working against his mechanical will."

I'd say his second half start is usually more important than his first half starts, but I think it's a bad sign when Doc puts him on the bench for really long stretches.

Yup. I like Rondo and he's awesome when he tries, but is anybody else a little concerned that once the Big 3 is done we're gonna be stuck with a player that's so... eh... (this sounds harsh) mentally weak?

Pretty much.  I hope to God we get good Rondo tonight.
