First of all, let me just say that the Celtics just played like crap. With that out of the way, the game plan was just awful.

Why the heck do they have Rondo trying to post Bibby? It makes zero sense. The advantage Rondo has over him is speed, not size.

Secondly, wasn't the 2nd unit going to be the "post up unit"? Yet all I saw was perimeter play from that group. When Krstic was there he had a huge advantage constantly in the post, yet we never went there. Not saying that we lost because we didn't pass it to Krstic, but it was a microcosm of the problem.

It's quite clear that West can't run an offense. He either has to work from the post or get a different assignment. I think it's time for Doc to seriously consider putting Arroyo for a few minutes and see if 2nd unit becomes a bit more fast paced because the slowness and steadiness which West brings is hurting them.

There were other things, but these were the ones I wanted to address. I know we had a bit of foul trouble, but I thought Doc's rotation was quite weak, and it has been weak in the whole playoffs so far.

And something has to be done with our defense strategy, we can't keep leaving their best shooters open constantly in the 3-point line. Where were the adjustments throughout the game? There was none.

Excellent points, I hope the C's are well aware of it and have watched these points on tape to correct them tonight. Especially on the Rondo/Bibby front, on one hand you could say "great, Rondo is attacking Bibby" but he didn't attack him like he should and forced shots instead of taking advantage of his speed when the opportunity came.

Also, the 1st unit has to play in the post too. I know Pierce tends to shoot more threes when he plays against LeBron because it's less exhausting than driving when having to defend LeBron on the other end but still, he looked like Antoine Walker in game 1, shooting so many threes. And KG has to attempt more shots (most of them in the post).

I like Rondo in the post against Bibby. I don't think Bibby can guard him there. Rondo is far too physical and explosive for Bibby to contain him down there.

I think the C's can get a lot of joy out of those post ups.

Rondo doesn't know how to work the post. I'd like it if he was forcing help and then pass it to the open man. What he's doing is forcing his way through Bibby and he's not getting anywhere like that. And while he's doing all that, we have zero ball movement going.

They need some pick and pop plays going so that Rondo can go one on one with his speed to the basket.

This is not Docs strength as a coach. I truely believe we would have won in 08 with anyone on the bench.

Last night in the Bulls/Hawks game TT left Rose on the bench for a extended period of time cause the second unit was making a run and were only down 1 point before the half. I cant count how many times this year Doc would pull someone who was in a rhythm and playing well just to stick to his regular rotation and watch us lose the momentum.

I have alot of respect for the way Doc conducts himself as our coach. A class act and a nice guy. Many times though I wonder what he is thinking "Why the heck do they have Rondo trying to post Bibby?"

It reminded me of game 1 against the Knicks.  Yes, there were other issues, but the number one problem seemed to be that the C's were not sure how the Heat would defend them, and it completely killed them in the first half.

We saw some good adjustments in the second half however, which will hopefully continue to improve in game 2.

For me, the number one thing that stands out is the way the Heat send quick doubles to anyone in the post, particularly if there is a mismatch.  They are so long and quick, and with the C's not expecting it, they basically made it impossible to attack mismatches in the post.  In order to counter this, the C's are going to have to really be looking for the double quickly, and trying to pass out of it before they can get the trap there.

What I would like to see a lot of is give and goes with Rondo passing toe KG in the post, and then flashing to the middle when his man doubles.  Once he catches the ball in the lane, the other defenders will collapse down on him, and he will be free to pick the defense apart and find the open shooters.

Well said KG has got to get in the post if we want any shot, you can't let guys like James Jones push you around (yes at one point I saw JJ pushing KG around) enuff is enuff it's time to hold everybody accountable

Also I wish Von Wafer were active a few minutes it couldn't hurt but I think only help us we need some more athleticism and attacking at the basket, or driving and creating for others, all things Wafer is capable of doing.
"7ft PG. Rondo leaves and GUESS WHAT? We got a BIGGER point guard!"-Tommy on Olynyk

I think Rondo is a good scorer in the post. I agree he doesn't pass as well as he should out of there ... but I think his scoring ability makes him a good option on a small number of post ups per game when he has a clear mismatch down there which I think he has with Bibby.

Not many, just 3 or 4 times a game.

I'd like to see Doc keep that in the playbook for this series.
