when ray allen gets more shots and plays well, the celtics generally win. i dont understand how a guy who hits 5 3 pointers the prior game(many times with D-wade in his face) only gets 7shots the next game.

but generally, when the C's go out of their sets ray gets lest and doesnt get his shots. The celtics seemed to panic when the heat made runs and went too much into random plays. we need to execute better in game 3 and 4 if we expect to make a series out of this

Game 1 was actually the first game this year where Ray scored 20+ and we lost

Not surprising.  Ray is a barometer of this team.  However, I think it is much more the case that Ray scoring means the team is playing well in general than Ray scoring points MAKES the team play well.

Last night, Ray not getting the ball wasn't the problem.  It was a symptom of the problem, the same way Davis and Rondo taking bad shots were a symptom of the problem.

The problem is some combination of a lack of movement and cohesion of the C's offense, and just tremendous defense by the Heat.  Its not like they weren't trying to get the ball in Ray's hands, and keep it out of Davis' hands.  They just had no choice, because when they don't execute pretty close to perfectly, they end up having to go to their 4th and 5th options.

Actually not true, though our record is much better with Allen scoring 20+.  We have lost games this year when he has scored 20.  I only know this because I went to a game where he scored 20+ and they lost.
do it

In '07 - '08, our Big 3 played well, we usually won the game.

The following year when KG went down we needed both RR and PP to play well, Baby and Rondo to play well and then we usually won.

Last year, no one really played well in the 2nd half (due to injuries and what have you) so we stumbled into the playoffs.

This year we really need at least 2 out of the Big 3 to play well and Rondo to play like Oscar Robertson for us to win the games.

In this year's playoffs...none of the above are happening...at any point.

hmmm was it later in the year?  I could have swore there was post here on CB this season that we were undefeated when Ray scored 20+

Oh yeah, I completely agree with this.  Ray scoring 20 isn't him dramatically leading us to victory...it's just a great indicator of ball movement and an efficient offense

ball movement so far has been poor
no side to side passing for open man, stagnant offense (and its not the heats d)
