Not a big fan of Jackie Mac's article on Pierce.

She talks about how Bill Russell, Bird, Cousy, and Havlicek were never thrown out of a playoff game. Really? You're going to compare how the game was called then and now? Did anyone ever get kicked out of games in those era's? I'm pretty sure you had to knife someone to get a tech in those days? Pierce swore at Wade on the second tech. He swore and thats why they gave him a T.

Another thing I have to say about these 2 ridiculous tech's is that if Pierce doesn't do anything, everyone is going to talk about how soft he and the Celtic's were, that the Heat were intimidating us and hitting us with us doing nothing. It's a lose, lose situation. He doesn't retaliate he will be labeled as "soft" and when he does do something he is being immature and not smart

When officials have the freedom to call T's and kick people out for any reason they want it is really hard for me to get upset a guy for something like that. I mean, Tim Duncan got thrown out of a game for laughing. If the refs wanted to they probably could have kicked anyone out of the game for "taunting". Isn't that what goes on for 48 minutes every game?

I totally agree with you

This the one thing I don't like about Dan Shaughnessy and Jackie. They have that "know it all" discriminating personality which annoys the heck outta me

Its a natural reaction, and I'm glad Pierce showed that he would never back down. I loved it

Yeah I just don't get it. It's like not watching the game and then saying "Pierce got ejected? He's gone back to his immature ways, I thought he was over this" blah blah blah

The reason why people are talking about Pierce is because of the Ref's actions-not Pierce's. Probably at least 9 out of 10 times that Wade Pierce incident is a nothing none issue (as fas as someone actually getting kicked out). The ref made the decision to toss Pierce for swearing so people are all up in arms about Pierce being an idiot. If the ref didn't toss were people still going to be up and arms about Pierce swearing at Wade? No. It wouldn't have been mentioned at all.

It's the ref's actions that caused this more than Pierce's

I'm not a big fan of their's either, especially since they routinely live in the 80's still.  You're telling me Parish didn't throw PUNCHES, McHale didn't clothsline Rambis on a fast break, and Bird wasn't in choke holds and giving out cheapshots?

What did Pierce do that was at all comparable to the things listed above???  Especially in this age of HD tv where you can see every emotion and bead of sweat.  Pierce set a legal screen that Wade took exception to.  The referee called a T on Pierce (his second in LESS THAN A MINUTE) without hesitation.  The fans don't pay to watch referees.

Had Bird been tossed for the same thing Jackie would have written article after article slamming the NBA and its officiating.  Wake up Jackie & Dan, you don't know everything, and the guys in the 80's weren't Saints on the court.

The blessing in disguise is that the ejection might replace what could have been a potential suspension had he not been tossed out of the game.

I don't think so. That would have been the case if he was thrown out after the nose-butt but he got thrown out for getting a second T.

If he is suspended for a game (which I would be pretty shocked) it will be because of the nose-butt incident

Well, I hope Pierce is more concerned about winning the game and the series than whether those in the ESPN chat room think he's soft.  The second T was BS but he needs to be smarter.  When you've got one (especially when it had just been called) you need to walk softly.  Just play the game and let that do the talking.

I'm just talking about people being hypocritical and just judging this on hindsight.

Pierce has played the same way for the past few years. He talks and does all that stuff. He's not the type of guy that gets kicked out of games. He's being himself but the ref's can construe any situation to what they want it to be and that's what they did.

Pierce wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary, what the ref's did was out of the ordinary

I was down on Pierce yesterday starting with the two dribbles off the foot where he didn't immediately dive head first after the ball. That was terrible. It's fine if you short arm a couple early shots or whatnot, but the sloppy effort on those dribbles and then not going after the ball was horrifying.

Just play.

In reference to the Shaunnessy article, I thought it was hilarious when PP wrapped his head in gauze after that Pacers game. . . claiming he had a fractured jaw.

Pretty sure its thrown out of 2 playoff games because Bird has been thrown out of a playoff game.

Either way Paul's gotta be smarter than that. I thought for sure Paul was gonna get ejected/suspended when I first saw the "headbutt" until I saw the replay and saw that Jones flopped. He's gotta realize that he CANNOT do anything to risk getting suspended or anything foolish that could cost us the series.

We had a GM back in the day who, IN A PRESEASON GAME, came out of the stands and ripped BillY cunninghams jacket and started shoving Moses Malone. So he wasn't a player and it was a preseason game but its an example that sometimes enough is enough.

Red and Heinsohn were as volatile as you can be
I hope our guys are really revved up now

Doc should put himself between the players and refs. Doc is too soft and mellow to back up a player. He could have let the refs know early on that he wasn't going to tolerate the calls. If he gets tossed we send a message they hear loud and clear. No loss if he does. Believe me he is no Phil Jackson. We have enough talent on the bench to continue on.  So he waits until post game to vent. Miami 1 Celts 0.

I have no issue at all with the article.

Pierce should no better and should be smart enough to not get himself kicked from the game for pretty ridiculous unnecessary retaliatory conduct.
